This glossary is for my business class. I made it to help me understand important sales and marketing words. I am a Business Management student at Ahuntsic College. This glossary helps me learn business terms in a simple way. It helps me understand words used in class and in real life. It has several important terms with easy definitions, translations, examples, and images. I found the words in my class notes and on the internet. I want the reader to use this glossary to learn and understand business vocabulary better.

ABC (Always be closing)
Expression
ABC means that a salesperson must always try to make a sale and not stop before closing the deal.
Example: The manager teaches the team to follow the ABC rule.

Account intelligence
Noun
Account intelligence means collecting information about a client or a company to understand them better and sell better.
Example: Salespeople use account intelligence to know what the client needs.

Average deals size
Noun
Average deal size is the average amount of money a company makes from one sale.
Example: The company increased its average deal size this year.

Buyer criteria
Noun
Buyer criteria are the reasons why a customer chooses one product instead of another.
Example: Price and quality are important buyer criteria.

Buyer persona
Noun
A buyer persona is a profile of the perfect customer based on real information.
Example: The company creates a buyer persona for its marketing.

Buyer’s journey
Noun
The buyer’s journey is the different steps a customer goes through before buying a product.
Example: The buyer’s journey starts when the customer looks for information.

Chum rate
Noun
Churn rate is the number of customers who stop using a service or a product.
Example: The company wants to lower its churn rate.

Closed-won
Noun / Adjective
Closed-won means that the sale is finished and the deal is successful.
Example: The deal is closed-won, so the company made a sale.

Commission
Noun
Commission is money a salesperson earns for making a sale.
Example: She earns a commission for every product she sells.

Contextual marketing

Contextual marketing means showing the right message to the right customer at the right time.
Example: Contextual marketing shows ads based on what the customer is looking for.

Cost per lead
Noun
Cost per lead is the amount of money a company spends to get one potential customer.
Example: The company wants to reduce its cost per lead.

Customer expansion means getting existing customers to buy more products or services.

Customer lifecycle

Customer lifecycle is the different stages a customer goes through: discovering the brand, buying, and buying again.

The flywheel is a marketing model where happy customers help bring new customers through positive experiences.
Example: The flywheel focuses on attracting, engaging, and delighting customers.

Gatekeeper

Example: The receptionist is the gatekeeper who decides who can talk to the manager.
