I made this glossary to regroup words in my field of studies. This glossary will help me and others remember and describe those different words.

A sound that is triggered by something, mostly used to warn people.
Example: The fire alarm started ringing.

Refers to person or place designated for handling a call for help by alerting the specific resources necessary.
Example: "what was the date of dispatch?"

Training during which an emergency is simulated and the trainees or personnel go through the steps of responding as if it were a real emergency.
Example: The students were practicing their drills for the upcoming sports day.

extrication
verb
Removal of a trapped victim such as a vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, or trench rescue. It is sometimes using hydraulic spreader, jaws of Life, or other technical equipment.
Example: The firefighters faced a complex extrication after the car wreck, carefully removing the injured driver from the twisted wreckage.

A suit that is weared by firefightings while they work.

The operational area at the scene of a fire. The area in which incident commander is in control.

Example: A fire truck is a large vehicle used to fight fires, carrying water, equipment, and firefighters to the scene of an emergency.

It is a multi-purpose tool that is designed for prying, twisting, punching, and striking. It is instrumental in forcible entry.
Example: The firefighters used a Halligan bar to pry open the neighbors door.

Late stage in fire-suppression process during which the burned area is carefully examined for remaining sources of heat that may re-kindle the fire. Often coincides with salvage operations to prevent further loss to structure or its contents, as well as fire-cause determination and preservation of evidence.
Example: The mechanic needed to completely overhaul the engine before it could be restored to full functionality.
