arrest someone

To arrest someone is to put them in custody for breaking the law.
Example: The police officer arrested someone because he stole money.

Example: At the very least, Felicity could be charged with ASSAULT occasioning actual bodily harm, which is described in section 47 of the Offences Against The Person Act 1861.

breath sample

A test to detect the presence of one or more substances (such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide, or alcohol) in a person's exhaled breath.
Example: The police officer has to give him a breath sample because he was driving too fast.

A person, especially a police officer, whose occupation is to investigate and solve crimes.
Example: Detectives are anxious to interview anyone who saw the car.

An ink impression of the lines upon the fingertip taken for the purpose of identification (as during the booking procedure following an arrest).
Example: Therefore, even though Baroness Hale dissented from the majority in terms of whether the retention of FINGERPRINTS.

A pair of lockable linked metal rings for securing a prisoner's wrists.
Example: He was led into court handcuffed to a policeman.
