anxiety
noun
An intense emotional response caused by the preconscious recognition that a repressed conflict is about to emerge into consciousness.
Example: My school performance can cause me a lot of anxiety.

behaviorism
noun
The theory that human and animal behavior can be explained in terms of conditioning, without appeal to thoughts or feelings, and that psychological disorders are best treated by altering behavior patterns.
Example: We could apply behaviorism to improve the service we give.

bipolar disorder
noun
A mental illness that brings severe high and low moods and changes in sleep, energy, thinking, and behavior.
Example: My sister got diagnosed with a bipolar disorder.

cognition
noun
The mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through though, experience, and the senses.
Example: Doing physic exercise helps to keep a healthy cognition.

flooding
noun
A therapy for phobias in which clients are exposed, with their permission, to the stimuli most frightening to them.
Example: My friend did a flooding therapy to help her overcome her fear of mice.

intuition
noun
The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.
Example: My intuition told me once to not trust this boy, turns out he wasn't a good person.

lucid dream
noun
The view that conscious awareness of dreaming is a learnable skill that can enable dreamers to control the direction and content of their dreams.
Example: I had a lucid dream last night, it's been the third one this month.

narcissism
noun
It is used to describe a person characterized by egotism, vanity, pride, or selfishness.
Example: I don't particularly like people who give off a narcissism vibe.

A man who's in love with himself.
neurotic
adjective
Suffering from, caused by, or relating to neurosis.
Example: Women who do not have a child may become neurotic.

obsessive-compulsive disorder
noun
An anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce uneasiness, apprehension, fear, or worry; by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing the associated anxiety.
Example: My friend has to change her toothbrush every day because of her obsessional-compulsive disorder.

phobia
noun
An extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.
Example: My boyfriend has a phobia of rats.

It shows the different phobias people could have.
placebo effect
noun
A beneficial effect, produced by a placebo drug or treatment, that cannot be attributed to the properties of the placebo itself, and must therefore be due to the patient's belief in that treatment.
Example: I once poured water as a drink for my friend, and she thought it was alcohol, so she started acting weird without even drinking it. That’s because of the placebo effect.

schizophrenia
noun
A long-term mental disorder involving faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, and withdrawal from reality and social relationships.
Example: My grandmother has schizophrenia, and she can no longer live by herself.

self-esteem
noun
Confidence in one's own worth or abilities; self-respect.
Example: My friend is really sure of herself; she has high self-esteem.

stimulus
noun
Any phenomenon that causes a reaction or response in an organism.
Example: I used the sound of the bell as a stimulus to teach my dog to come back to me.

stress
noun
A state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.
Example: I had a lot of stress before my oral presentation.

stuttering
adjective
A speech disorder characterized by spasmodic repetition of the initial consonant or syllable of words and frequent pauses or prolongation of sounds.
Example: My dad suffers from stuttering when he speaks.

The difference between a person who is stuttering and one who is not.
therapy
noun
The treatment of disease or disorders, as by some remedial, rehabilitative, or curative process.
Example: I went to therapy once because of my family problems.

A discussion between the therapist and the other person who wants to resolve her problem.
unconscious
adjective
The part of the mind that is inaccessible to the conscious mind but that affects behavior and emotions.
Example: Losing control, Jack knocks Sarah unconscious handcuffs her, and calls for help.

The iceberg theory, where there is a very large unconscious part of the mind and only a small conscious part that is known.
welfare
noun
The health, happiness, and fortunes of a person or group.
Example: This is obviously far betters for the birds' welfare, but at a substantial cost to the farmer.
