Hello! my name is Maïlie and I'm 20 years old. I'm currently in Social Science: sports, nature, and society. It's my first session in this program. For the future, I want to study Nursing in university because I will work in the Canadian armed forces, so I will be a military nurse.
In this glossary, you will find words up on nursing with also a short definition of them. I think this glossary will be very helpful for people who struggle to learn difficult words that we could find in their field of study. We can find 20 different terms.
To create my small glossary, I use some dictionary like Merriam-Webster or Oxford English Dictionnary. For now, you can read all the words and the definition.
- allergies
- Hypersensitivity to the reintroduction of an allergen (compare to anaphylaxis).
- anatomy
- The science dealing with the structure of animals.
- bacteria
- Small single-celled organisms.
- blood
- Fluid that transport oxygen and nutrients to the cells and carries away carbon dioxide and other waste products.
- cancer
- Disease in which some of the body's cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body.
- care
- Serious attention: solicitude, heed, caution.
- drug
- A substance used as a medication or in the preparation of medication.
- emergency
- An urgent need for assistance or relief.
- fracture
- The breaking of hard tissue (such as bone).
- glucose
- A crystalline sugar.
- hypertension
- Abnormally high blood pressure and especially arterial blood pressure.
- lesion
- Abnormal change in structure of an organ or part due to injury or disease.
- nausea
- A stomach distresses with distastes for food and an urge to vomit.
- pulmonary
- Of, relating to, affecting or occurring in the lungs.
- radiate
- To evolve by adaptive radiation.
- sterile
- Free form living organisms and especially pathogenic.
- thorax
- The part of the vertebrate the part bodies between the neck and the abdomen.
- toxic
- Containing or being poisonous material when capable of causing death or serious debilitation.
- trauma
- A disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting form severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury.
- vein
- Any of the tubular branching vessels that carry blood from the capillaries toward the heart.
