In this glossary, you will read terms, and definitions related to civil engineering which will be my field of study, and my future job. This glossary could be useful for you because in this field of study there are many terms who are not well-known by the average person.

beam
a long and resistant piece used to support the parts of a building
building code
a set of local laws relating to how buildings should be designed or built
composition
the nature of something's constituents; the way a mixture is made up
conception
process in which someone will make plans of what something should look at the end of the construction
concrete reinforcement
process in which other materials are used to increase concrete durability
contract
a written agreement concerning employment, sales or tenancy that is intended to be enforceable by law
due date
the date on which something expected to be done
environmental standards
administrative regulations or legal rules for the treatment and maintenance of the environment
excavation
process in which the soil will be dug to build the foundations of a building
foundation
the lowest load-bearing part of a building typically below the ground level
heavy machinery
heavy-duty vehicles specially designed to execute construction tasks
malleability
the ability of something to be changed into a new shape
material supply
goods that are used as inputs in a production or construction process
oxidation
a process that degrades a material when it comes in contact with an oxidizing substance
permit
an official document giving someone authorization to do something
preparation
process in which the trees and other obstacles will be removed of a surface before the start of excavation
structure
the arrangement between the parts of something complex
submission
an approximation of how much it will cost to build something
survey
process in which the area will be measured
water table
a level of an underground who is permanently saturated with water
