20 Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention terms
Hi, I made this glossary to help people who work in the same field of study than me which is youth and adult correctional. To learn 20 new terms that will be useful for all of their courses because we are always evaluated for using the right terms. To find the terms I use terms that I use my entire journey at college, and I use google and a dictionary to find the definitions.
ambivalent attachment
Phrase
It's a type of insecure attachment characterized by an individual's desire for closeness but also fear of rejection or abandonment.
Example: The young boy has an ambivalent attachment.

attachment disorder
Phrase
It's a psychiatric condition that affects a child's ability to form healthy emotional attachments.
Example: A lot of kids in youth center has attachment disorder.

attachment disorganize
Phrase
Disorganized attachment is an insecure attachment style where individuals exhibit contradictory and unpredictable behaviors in relationships.
Example: George has attachment disorganized.

avoidant attachment
Phrase
Avoidant attachment is a relationship style characterized by a tendency to avoid emotional intimacies and closeness.
Example: When Oceanne doesn't feel good, she doesn't come to see adults because she has an avoidant attachment.

Compassion

Sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.
Example: You could show some compassion; it wasn't her fault.

complex trauma or complex PTSD

It refers to the long-term effects of prolonged, repeated, and often interpersonal traumatic experiences, especially those occurring in childhood. Unlike single-incident trauma, complex trauma can have a wide range of impacts on a person's emotional, behavioral, and relational development.

Criminogenic factors

It factors that contribute to criminal behavior or increase the likelihood of an individual committing a crime.
Example: Malika has a lot of criminogenic factors that explain the fact that she's a criminal.

The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
Example: I feel empathy with the main character.

Conduct security rounds in the facility. Provide support, to the youth services worker. He takes charge of the person who is experiencing emotional crisis.
Example: Laeticia call the intervention agent to help her with a kid.

intervention plan

An intervention plan is a structured approach used to address specific challenges or needs, whether they be academic, behavioral, or social-emotional.
Example: We've made an intervention plan for Manon.

Secure attachment describes a positive and trusting bond where individuals feel comfortable with closeness and intimacy, able to communicate their needs and feelings, and seek support when needed.
Example: It is vital that parents or caregivers nurture secure attachment in children because it can have a positive impact on child development.
