this short glossary will show-off a few terms used in the context of law. These words will be more useful to college students who want to continue in law and politics field of studies at their university journey.

Contract
A written agreement between two or more parties where is stated the obligations of thing to do and not to do
Conviction
A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant
Court
Government entity authorized to resolve legal problems between a party and another
Evidence
Elements to proof a saying
Felony
A serious crime, usually involving at least one year in prison
judgement
An official decision given by a judge to end a lawsuit between parties
jury
A selected group of people who make a verdict about a trial based on evidence and elements of law
lawsuit
Legal action started by a plaintiff against a defendant who failed to take a complaint which resulted in the harming of the plaintiff
Lawyer
A person with the right qualifications charged to defend a plaintiff or a defendant at court
Motion
A request given to the judge to make an action about something
Plaintiff
A person who files a complaint against someone or a business
probation
Instead of being sent to prison, an individual can be released with special conditions and supervision
Prosecute
To charge someone with a crime
sanction
A penalty given in case of actions made against laws or rules
Sentence
Punishment ordered in court to a defendant with a recognized crime
Statute
A law passed by a legislature
Testimony
Evidence done orally by witnesses during trial
Verdict
Common decision ordered by a trial jury to determine if the defendant is guilty or innocent
Warrant
Court authorization, mostly done to be able to make a search or to arrest
Witness
People chosen by both sides of the lawsuit to make a testimony to justify or to proof something about a question related to the lawsuit
