Right now, I'm in a Springboard to a DCS because I don't really know what I wanted to do in my life. Nursing is one of the program where I'm interested in going to. All these words can help future healthy student to understand to vocabulary of the program. All these definition can be found on internet.
- antipyretic
- Medicine that fights fever.
- armlet
- Band of fabric that inflates on the arm that allows the blood pressure monitor to measure blood pressure.
- catheter
- A long, thin tube, that enters a cavity or conduit to evacuate contents, dilate a channel, orifice, or introduce a substance.
- degenerative disease
- Illness that progresses and deteriorates a person's state of health.
- enanthem
- More or less extensive red spots observed on the mucous membranes.
- geriatrics
- In medecine, it's the study of aging and treatment of diseases affecting the elderly.
- headache
- Colloquially called a headache, is a local pain and a painful sensation felt at the level of the skull, therefore at the level of the head or sometimes at the level of the neck.
- hematopoietic
- It's an organ that makes blood cells.
- hysterometer
- Uterine probe, instrument intented to probe the uterus and return it to a normal direction, when it is deviated or to measure it.
- low blood pressure
- Abnormal decrease in blood pressure, the organs do not receive enough blood.
- menopause
- It's the cessation of periods and the cessation of ovarian activity in women.
- myocardial infarction
- It's a heart attack that occurs when the blood supply to part of the heart is cut off by a blocked coronary artery.
- neuroplegic
- Product that paralyzes the entire autonomic nervous system.
- obstetrics
- In medecine, branch relating to pregrancy and childbirth.
- palpation
- Clinical examination method that involves pressing fingers or hands on a part of the body to gather information about organs or tissues that will be useful for diagnosis.
- pulmonology
- It's the study that specializes in the study of the lungs and respiratory tract as well as their diseases.
- saturometer
- Device that is placed on the finger and measures the quantity of oxygen in the blood.
- serum calcium
- It's the calcuim level in the blood.
- typhoid
- It's an infection on the intestinal tract and blood caused by the bacteria Salmonella typhi. Often found in developing or disadvantaged countries.
- walker/zimmer
- Device forming a frame on which a person having difficulty walking relies to move around.
