I made this glossary to help Police Technology students know the terms in English. When they do an intervention in English, they will know more difficult or basic words to help the understanding of everyone.
alibi
Noun
A claim or piece of evidence that one was elsewhere when an act, especially a criminal one, is alleged to have taken place.
Example: She has an alibi for the whole of yesterday evening.

bailiff
Noun
An officer, similar to a sheriff or a sheriff's deputy, employed to execute writs and processes, make arrests, keep order in the court.
Example: The minster clergy petitioned the bailiffs on her behalf for licence to enclose, but the bailiffs refused.

coroner
Noun
An official who investigates violent, sudden, or suspicious deaths.
Example: For example, a coroner 's decision not to resume inquests into the law.

criminal code
Noun
The Criminal Code is a federal law that includes definitions of most of the criminal offences that the Parliament of Canada has enacted.
Example: The criminal code is different depending on the country.

discretionary power
Noun
Discretionary power is the ability to make decisions based on personal judgment or choice.
Example: Discretionary power can be use with a person going over the speed limit for the first time.

Noun
Violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner.
Example: Domestic violence is mostly seen with mens.

Example: In this case, my client did a plea of guilty.

A legal document authorizing a police officer or other official to enter and search premises.
