Hello, my name's Ilyas. I sadly still haven't been able to access my program, which is axed toward chemistry, but next year I should be able to do so. This glossary will concern vocabulary that is usually and commonly used in chemistry. I'm doing this glossary for the future students in chemistry that might need help with the vocabulary.

acid
noun
A chemical substance that neutralizes alkalis, dissolves some metals, and turns litmus red.
Example: The correct amino acid, glutamic acid is changed to a valine residue.

alkane
noun
Any of the series of saturated hydrocarbons including methane, ethane, propane, and higher members.
Example: The spectrum also contained the expected alkane C-H and C-C peaks in the ~2850-2960 cm.

noun
An atom is the smallest unit of ordinary matter that forms a chemical element.
Example: This is one of the many atoms in the element chart.

A beaker is generally a cylindrical container with a flat bottom.
Example: By adding equal amounts of ethanol and juice to a beaker.

A cathode is the metallic electrode through which current flows out in a polarized electrical device.
Example: The light is hitting the cathode and the photoelectrons are travelling.

A chemical property is any of a material's properties that becomes evident during, or after, a chemical reaction;
Example: All matter has physical and chemical properties.

An expert in chemistry; a person engaged in chemical research.
Example: The German Gerhard Schrader became the first chemist to produce a fully synthetic organophosphate.

A stable subatomic particle with a charge of negative electricity, found in all atoms and acting as the primary carrier of electricity in solids.
Example: A number of these organisms use hydrogen as an electron donor.

Example: It is exothermic and the addition of the ketone would take over 2 hours.

Ascertain the size, amount, or degree of something by using an instrument or device marked in standard units or by comparing it with an object of known size.
Example: X-ray Powder diffraction can be used to measure a compound or element.

A unit of measurement that is the amount of a pure substance containing the same number of chemical units.
Example: 1 mole of phthalate reacts with 1 mole of sodium.

Something made as a result of a chemical reaction.
Example: Water is the product of the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.

noun
A stable subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nuclei, with a positive electric charge equal in magnitude to that of an electron, but of opposite sign.
Example: With the largest chemical shift, the PROTON alpha to the Nitrogen.

The production of chemical compounds by reaction from simpler materials.
Example: The most important step in this synthesis being the Takai reaction.
