This glossary contains the words people can use to describe a clinical condition of a patient.

Aneurism
noun
A localized dilatation of the wall of an artery leading to the formation of a pocket of variable size.
Example: A ruptured aneurism in the brain can cause a severe headache.

Bruise
noun
An injury appearing as an area of discolored skin on the body, caused by a blow or impact rupturing underlying blood vessels.
Example: I fell while skiing. Now, I have a lot of bruises.

Cephalalgia
noun
It is pain anywhere in the region of the head.
Example: Cephalalgia is a part of clinical picture in case of stroke

Cervical collar
noun
A neck brace used to suppert a patient's neck and head.
Example: If a patient has got a pain in his neck, a paramedic must put the cervical collar.

Concussion

Example: My brother is a football player. He is getting a lot of concussions.

Cyanosis
noun
A bluish discoloration of the skin resulting from poor circulation or inadequate oxygenation of the blood
Example: Cyanosis indicates accumulation of CO2 in the blood.

Diaphoresis
noun
Diaphoresis is excessive or abnormal sweating for no apparent reason.
Example: Diaphoresis may indicate myocardial infarction.

Manifold
noun
Long tube usually used to make passing oxygen
Example: Paramedics often have difficulty managing manifolds.

Pallor
noun
Unnatural lack of color in the skin.
Example: Pallor is one of the signs of activation of the sympathetic autonomic nervous system.

Pang
noun
a sudden sharp pain or painful emotion
Example: Paramedics must do an ECG if the patient has a pang

Pleural effusion
noun
A pleural effusion is a buildup of fluid between the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity.
Example: Pleural effusion can appear after a severe trauma

Pulse Oximeter
noun
Adevice that measures the oxygen saturation of arterial blood in a subject by utikizing a sensor attached typically to a finger.
Example: If the pulse oximeter doesn't give a valid value, a paramedic must give the high concentration mask.

Resuscitation
a noun
The act of reviving a person and returning them to consciousness.
Example: Paramedics can meet people with notes: Do Not resuscitate

Skull
noun
a framework of bone or cartilage enclosing the brain of a vertebrate; the skeleton of a person's or animal's head
Example: The skull is one of the hardest bones in the human body

Splint
noun
device used for support or immobilization of limbs or of the spine.
Example: Paramedics must put splints on broken limbs.

noun
Ligament injury caused by excessive mobilization of a hinge.
Example: A little girl sprained her ankle.

Stretcher
noun
A framework of 2 poles with a long piece of canvas slung between them, used for carrying sick, injured, or dead people.
Example: Paramedics use their stretcher to transport patients

Device used for transport of a sick patient who's not unstable.
Example: The paramedic will use a stretcher chair to transport their patients downstairs

Stroke
Is the rapid loss of brain function due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain.
Example: A person with a stroke can have specific syndromes.
