authority

noun

The power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.

Example: I have the authority in this prison.

correctional officer

noun

Guard offenders and detainees and maintain order in correctional institutions and other places of detention.

Example: The correctional officers are patrolling areas where prisoners are kept.
