I made this glossary to help me with my future jobs in this field. It will help me learn English words that I usually use in French. Knowing this vocabulary will help me solve cases where the clients first language is English instead of French. I will find the word in the English textbook called Actively Engaged written by Nicholas Walker.
bailiff
noun
An officer, similar to a sheriff's deputy, employed to execute writs and processes, make arrests, keep order in the court.
Example: Court bailiffs are doing a job like anybody else and are generally extremely helpful.

burden of proof

The obligation to prove one's assertion.
Example: The burden of proof is upon the prosecutor.

noun
A person employed an office or bank to keep records and accounts and to undertake other routine administrative duties.
Example: She got a job as an insurance clerk.

noun
A person or commercial enterprise that owes a financial obligation.
Example: A debtor is a person or an entity that owes money to another, which could be any individual or institution.

noun
A calendar of the cases awaiting action in a court.
Example: The judge had to postpone some of the cases on the docket.

A shelter (as a house) in which people live.
