Anaphylactic shock
Noun
A sudden, severe allergic reaction characterized by a sharp drop in blood pressure, urticaria, and breathing difficulties that is caused by exposure to a foreign substance.
Example: She suffered an anaphylactic shock.

Noun
Biologically meaningful loci that can be unambiguously defined and repeatedly located with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
Example: Thorax and pelvis results highlighted a more favourable outcome with the majority of anatomical landmarks rating as 'visible' or better.

Angiography
Noun
Examination by X-ray of blood or lymph vessels, carried out after introduction of a radiopaque substance.
Example: Angiography is sometimes performed with cardiac catheterization.

Noun
Free from contamination caused by harmful bacteria, viruses, or other microorganisms.
Example: "This aseptic packaging is used by food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and other industries"

Noun
Made up of spongy, porous, bone tissue that is filled with red bone marrow. Another name for trabecular bone or spongy bone.
Example: Cancellous bone is a type of bone tissue present in the human body.

Noun
A flexible tube inserted through a narrow opening into a body cavity, particularly the bladder, for removing fluid. "a urinary catheter"
Example: A urinary catheter is usually used when people have difficulty peeing (urinating) naturally.

The negatively charged electrode by which electrons enter an electrical device.
Example: When we talk about cathode in chemistry, it is said to be the electrode where reduction occurs.

Visual examination of the colon from the cecum to the rectum.

A method of examining body organs by scanning them with X rays and using a computer to construct a series of cross-selectional scans along a single axis.
Example: Computed tomography confirmed the diagnosis.

An exam requiring the puncture of an artery in order to introduce a hose through which a product impervious to X-rays will be injected, directly into the coronary arteries.
Example: A coronarography can detect one or more spots of shrinking which are the origin of pains or aninfarct.

The shaft or central part of long bone.
Example: The process nearly always begins in the diaphysis, but then may extend into the epiphysis and produce suppuration of the joint.

Disease
Noun
A disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.
Example: The woman has a heart disease.

Electromagnetic radiation
Noun
It’s a form of radiant energy, propagating through space via electromagnetic waves/or particles called photons.
Example: X rays are electromagnetic radiation that differentially penetrates structures within the body and creates images of these structures on photographic film or a fluorescent screen.

Examination table
Noun
A table used to support patients during medical examinations.
Example: She is in a temporary neck brace and on an examination table.

Fluoroscopy
Noun
A technique where a fluorescent screen or image intensifying tube is connected to a closed-circuit television system to image internal structures of the body.
Example: With fluoroscopy, contrast material is injected into a blood vessel.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)
Noun
A neuro-imaging procedure using that measures brain activity by detecting changes associated with blood flow.
Example: Adults and children can undergo fMRI scans. For example, a specific part of your brain's frontal lobe handles muscle movements.

An imaging component which converts x-rays into a visible image.
Example: Image intensifier tubes (IITs) are optoelectronic devices that allow many devices, such as night vision devices and medical imaging devices, to function.

A medical sub-speciality of radiology which utilizes minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system.
Example: Patients underwent gastroesophageal stenting by interventional radiology.

Intravenous tubing
Noun
Plastic conduit used to administer various fluids to patients through a needle inserted into one of the patient’s veins.
Example: This old man will need an intravenous tubing before the surgery.

A radiation composed of particles that individually carry enough kinetic energy to liberate an electron from an atom or molecule, ionizing it.
Example: Only the energy from ionizing radiation that is imparted to (or absorbed by) the human body can cause harm to health.

Noun
A non-invasive medical diagnostic technique that uses high-frequency radio-waves and a strong magnetic field to see inside body tissues.
Example: An MRI done just days earlier revealed a tumor in his left knee.

Uses low dose x-ray systems to produce images of the human breasts.
Example: An NIH Consensus Conference concluded that routine mammography was not indicated universally for women in their forties.
