The glossary that I have made aims to help students in their first year on the program to understand some technical words. Logically then, each word in this glossary is related to the basic notions of business management and are commonly used in this field. Learning and understanding the meaning of these words can help these students during their first year.
Asset

Property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies.
Example: By increasing our assets this last year we upgraded to 25% more net worth.

An estimate of income and expenditure for a set period.

Business Environment

It is sum or collection of all internal and external factors such as employees, customers needs and expectations, supply and demand, management, clients, suppliers, owners, activities by government, innovation in technology, social trends, market trends, economic changes, etc. These factors affect the function of the company and how a company works directly or indirectly. Sum of these factors influences the companies or business organisations environment and situation.

Management is the coordination and administration of tasks to achieve a goal. It can be separate on three major types of management: Autocratic, Democratic, and Laissez-Faire, by order of the most controlling to the least.
Example: We have to define which type of management we want at our company.

It's the process of dividing a market of potential customers into groups, or segments, based on different characteristics. The segments created are composed of consumers who will respond similarly to marketing strategies and who share traits such as similar interests, needs, or locations.
Example: We divided our market of potential customers by using market segmentation, so that we could target our customers in a cost effective manner.

SME
