10 Preparation of a glossary of construction materials terms

The vocabulary of some construction materials will be investigated

Metal channel
noun
Is a roll formed metal strip that has been shaped into a tube or a U, J, or C shape for industrial and manufacturing use.
Example: It has a metal channel structure to be lighter.
es: canal metalico
Metal decking
noun
Metal decking covers all forms of the profiled steel sheeting commonly used together with concrete and steelwork to create a composite floor system or as a structural element to support a built-up roof system.
Example: Metal decking is corrugated metal sheeting that's used as a structural roof deck or composite floor deck.
es: Cubierta de metal
null
Metal framing
noun
It is a construction system that uses cold-formed and galvanized steel profiles instead of wooden or aluminum beams as structural elements.
Example: Unistrut manufactures quality metal framing support systems for the electrical, mechanical, medical, and construction industries.
es: Estructura metálica
null
Metal grating
noun
lattice structure made up of load-bearing plates joined orthogonally by transversal elements.
Example: The accessible areas on the ground floor will have metal grating.
es: Rejilla metalica
null
Metal rod
noun
Piece of metal or other matter, generally prismatic or cylindrical and much longer than thick.
Example: The light structure made of metal rod
es: Barra de metal
null
Steel angle
noun
It is a commercial profile that, as its name indicates, has an angular shape that is formed by two flat steel bars, which create a 90º degree angle with equal or unequal sides.
Example: Stainless steel angle bars are widely used for engineering structures, industrial tools, machinery parts, building construction
es: Angulo de acero
null
Steel beam
noun
They are structural elements that support the construction loads and transmit them to the vertical supporting elements (columns or walls).
Example: the wall will be loaded with a steel beam to lighten the load
es: Viga de acero
null
Steel column
noun
They are constructive elements made in the factory, although occasionally modifications can be made to them in the field.
Example: Light weight is an advantage as fewer kilos of metal are needed than in the case of a steel column.
es: Columna de acero
null
Steel plate
noun
The steel plate is mainly used for surface applications in some structures, usually, the dish is also used to manufacture tubes.
Example: the structure will be supported on a steel plate to transmit the weight to the ground
es: Placa de acero
null
Steel rod
noun
It is a low-carbon steel rod, with a kind of corrugated edges on its surface to improve adhesion to the concrete and keep the structure motionless with the latter.
Example: houses must have steel rebar in conjunction with concrete
es: Varilla de acero
