This glossary will allow you to know the definition of twenty words that I will use in my career.
Boring machine
Noun
A horizontal boring machine, equipped with large diameter auger boring tools drills a pattern of horizontal boreholes into the exposed coal seam removing the coal as the bore advances into the coal seam.
Example: Tunnel boring machines are used as an alternative to drilling and blasting (D&B) methods in rock and conventional "hand mining" in soil.

Cage
Noun
Mine lift used to transport personnel or equipments.
Example: The largest compartment is typically used for the mine cage, a conveyance used for moving workers and supplies below the surface, which is suspended from the hoist on steel wire rope.

Crusher
Noun
Equipment for reducing the size of rock pieces from blasted rock.
Example: The earliest crushers were hand-held stones, where the weight of the stone provided a boost to muscle power, used against a stone anvil.

Drift
Noun
A horizontal or inclined passage following a mineral vein or coal seam.
Example: While the DRIFT out of industrial employment was common to all developed countries after 1945, in Britain in 1975 the ratio of non - industrial to industrial employment.

Drilling machine
Noun
Drilling machinery, equipment used to drill holes in the ground for such activities as prospecting, well sinking (petroleum, natural gas, water, and salt), and scientific explorations. Drilling holes in rock to receive blasting charges is an operation in tunneling, mining, and other excavating.
Example: We offer rock drilling machines and other equipment for many different applications.

Explosives
Noun
An explosive substance is a solid or liquid substance which is in itself capable by chemical reaction of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings.
Example: It is hard to destroy a mine without EXPLOSIVES, and it was not till the Spartans envisaged setting up a fort on Attic territory at Decelea.

Fan
Noun
An apparatus with rotating blades that creates a current of air for cooling or ventilation.
Example: By this time a FAN will be working and will be getting too mature to maintain the style of dress and behaviour that membership of the Rowdies group requires.

Headframe
Noun
The structure which covers the mouth of a well and which serves mainly to support the knurls.
Example: Construction of a steel headframe can be easily interrupted and restarted if necessary for statutory holidays or bad weather, where slip forming concrete is not.

Hoist
Noun
An act of raising or lifting something.
Example: To give an example, a company was found responsible for a HOIST accident at a power station in Kent in 1978 in which four people died and five were seriously injured.

Jackleg
Noun
The jackleg is one of the tools that allowed miners to increase their productivity in an unprecedented. It was developped during the Industrial Revolution. The tool is used to drill holes in order to insert dynamite into the rock face.
Example: A revolutionary new jackleg drill incorporating the best features from many existing drills and some brand new ideas and features designed exclusively by PHQ.

Level
Noun
Horizontal plane containing a well recipe.
Example: At one LEVEL, the study of topography provides a re- examination of the concept of place in contemporary cultures and a re-reading of the relationship between globalization and regional culture.

Mucking
Verb
Action of ridding the site of products that have been knocked down or struck down.
Example: Results of the very large scale excavations at mucking.

Ore bin
Noun
Excavation or construction that serves for the intermediate storage of ore during their handling on the surface and underground of the mine.
Example: Workers drill or blast to release the ore, load it into trucks, and drive it underground to an underground ore bin.

Pillar
Noun
A tall vertical structure of stone, wood, or metal, used as a support for a building, or as an ornament or monument.
Example: The developed pillar strength equation can be used to design stable stone mine pillars provided the rock conditions.

Pump station
Noun
Set of pumps used to evacuate the water drained by the various mine works.
Example: North mine has a single pumping station at the bottom of the mine on level 15C.

Noun
A slope or inclined plane for joining two different levels, as at the entrance or between floors of a building.
Example: Securing a profit and forecasting higher demand prompted us to RAMP up production by 6,000 units to 30,000 units. 7.2.2 Place Anticipating higher competition for our products, more sales people were hired to market our product aggressively.

Scooptram
Noun
Machine that picks up ore and dumps it into a skip or raise.
Example: The Scooptram EST1030 is a fast, electrically powered loader with a 10 tonne capacity for unparalleled productivity in mining operations.

Shaft
Noun
A long, narrow, typically vertical hole that gives access to a mine, accommodates an elevator in a building, or provides ventilation.
Example: This last was perhaps due to the development of SHAFT - mining in addition to open - cast workings

Stope
Noun
Underground excavation resulting from the extraction of ore. Its walls delimit the volume that was occupied by the removed ore.
Example: Although stope development often is done simultaneously with general development and stoping and continues after stoping has begun.

Sump
Noun
A pit or hollow in which liquid collects, especially one in the floor of a mine or basement.
Example: A sump can also be an infiltration basin used to manage surface runoff water and recharge underground aquifers.
