It's a barrier constructed to hold back water and raise its level, forming a reservoir used to generate electricity or as a water supply.
Example: The river dam enables the plain to be irrigated.

noun
It's the action of clearing a wide area of trees. Mainly caused by human to build, sell or produce something.
Example: Deforestation is causing many animal species to lose their homes.

It's the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.
Example: People who litter apparently have no interest in ecology.
