This glossary was made to help people understand keywords used in the marketing field. Marketing is a field of study based on brands and how to use publicity to make the company grow.

Advertising
noun
the activity or profession of producing advertisements for commercial products or services.
Example: I am advertising this new movie

noun
the systematic computational analysis of data or statistics.
Example: "these analytics can help you decide if it's time to deliver content in different ways"

Baseline
noun
a minimum or starting point used for comparisons.
Example: This graphic will show a series of peaks separated by a baseline

Brand
noun
a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name. "a new brand of detergent"
Example: I like the shoes of this brand.

Buyer Persona
noun
is a detailed description of someone who represents your target audience. It is meant to represent your ideal customer.
Example: We need to write down our buyer persona.

Competition
noun
the person or people with whom one is competing, especially in a commercial or sporting arena; the opposition.
Example: Companies they can work together to eliminate COMPETITION which will lead to quicker exploitation.

Content
noun
the things that are held or included in something.
Example: The website has a lot of content to read.

Deal
noun
an agreement entered into by two or more parties for their mutual benefit, especially in a business or political context.
Example: It is clear that this is a good deal.

Demographics
noun
statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it.
Example: "the demographics of book buyers"

noun
the action of engaging or being engaged.
Example: It requires a steadier and long term ENGAGEMENT at the international level.

verb
predict or estimate (a future event or trend).
Example: An increase in selling is forecast.

Hashtag
noun
a word or phrase preceded by a hash sign (#), used on social media websites and applications, especially Twitter, to identify messages on a specific topic.
Example: We will use hashtag to make it easier for clients to find us.

Keyword
noun
an informative word used in an information retrieval system to indicate the content of a document.
Example: We can find what our clients like with keywords.

Loss
noun
an amount of money lost by a business or organization.
Example: losses that are not passed through the profit and LOSS account.

Margin
noun
an amount of something included so as to be sure of success or safety.
Example: We made a saving account in case our margin was off the chart.

Portfolio
noun
a range of investments held by a person or organization.
Example: This bank institution offers a good portfolio.

referral
noun
an act of referring someone or something for consultation, review, or further action
Example: People currently have to wait six months after a REFERRAL, before they are offered a discount.

division into separate parts or sections.

noun
the action of helping or doing work for someone for something in return.
Example: we are offering math coaching service.

Viral Marketing
noun
A method of product promotion that relies on getting customers to market an idea, product or service on their own.
Example: This local store uses the clients to do the marketing by letting them talk about it to other people.
