Acid rain

Rain that contains large amount of harmful chemicals.
Example: Ecosystems have suffered from exposure to acid rain in the past and are struggling to recover.

An event that cannot be prevented or controlled and usually cannot be insured against.
Example: The insurance company dismissed the accident as an act of God and refused to pay out.

An earthquake

A sudden violent shaking of the earth's surface.
Example: An earthquake caused the buildings to collapse.

Biodiversity
Noun
The number and types of plants and animals that exist in a particular area or in the world generally.
Example: The gardens are carefully managed in order to encourage biodiversity.

Carbon dioxide
Noun
The gas formed when carbon is burned, or when people or animals breathe out.
Example: Plants absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis.

Carbon footprint
Noun
It's a measurement of the amount of carbon dioxide that someone's activities produce.
Example: I will sell my car to reduce my carbon footprint.

Noun
A long period when there is little or no rain.

Adjective
Not harmful to the environment.
