We made this glossary with the purpose to provide definitions about certain concepts that will help us in English Language Teaching.

Accuracy:
Noun.
The quality or state of being correct or precise.
Example: The police questioned the accuracy of his statement.

Accustomed:
Adjective.
Customary; usual.
Example: Her accustomed route.
es: Acostumbrado.
Collaboration:
Noun.
The action of working with someone to produce or create something.
Example: My collaboration with colleagues and the projects I've worked on have been a great experience.

Contradictory:
Adjective.
Mutually opposed or inconsistent.
Example: The two attitudes are contradictory.
es: Contradictorio.
Desired:
Adjective.
Strongly wished for or intended.
Example: The bribe had its desired effect.

Detract:
Verb.
Diminish the worth or value of (a quality or achievement).
Example: These quibbles in no way detract from her achievement.

Discussing.
Verb.
Talk about (something) with another person or group of people.
Example: I discussed the matter with my wife.

Encourage:
Verb.
Give support, confidence, or hope to (someone).
Example: A pre-laying ration would be high in coarse grist to ENCOURAGE eating and high in protein and energy.

Environment:
Noun.
A sum total of all the living and non-living elements and their effects that influence human life.
Example: Porters five forces are a measure of the external environment and how they can affect the business.

Error:
Noun.
An act or condition of ignorant or imprudent deviation from a code of behavior.
Example: A number of mathematical tricks that can sharpen resolution, eliminate clutter and provide error correction.

Feasible.
Adjective.
Possible to do easily or conveniently.
Example: The World Bank shows that paid extension is "feasible and has a positive impact, even in a relatively poor country such as Nicaragua".

Feedback:
Verb/Noun.
Information about reactions to a product, a person's performance of a task, etc. which is used as a basis for improvement.
Example: He asked for some feedback from his boss.

Fluency:
Noun.
The quality or condition of being fluent.
Example: Language works is useful for the development of fluency and accuracy for learners.
es: Fluidez.
Focus:
Noun.
The center of interest or activity.
Example: This generation has made the environment a focus of attention.
es: Enfoque.
Fundamental:
Adjective.
Serving as a basis supporting existence or determining essential structure or function.
Example: Flexibility is fundamental, because there are no pre-established or predictable outcomes of extension.

Grammar:
Noun.
The whole system and structure of a language or of languages in general, usually taken as consisting of syntax and morphology (including inflections) and sometimes also phonology and semantics.
Example: Isolated pieces of grammar and vocabulary are not very beneficial to the learner.

Hope:
Verb.
Want something to happen or be the case.
Example: He's hoping for an offer of compensation.

Hyperlinks:
Noun.
A link from a hypertext file or document to another location or file, typically activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image on the screen.
Example: Thumbnail images that are hyperlinked to a larger image.

Interactive:
Adjective.
(Of two people or things) influencing or having an effect on each other.
Example: Fully sighted children in interactive play with others with defective vision.

Language:
Noun.
The principal method of human communication, consisting of words used in a structured and conventional way and conveyed by speech, writing, or gesture.
Example: Allowing farmers and scientists to develop a common LANGUAGE and understand each other better.

Lead:
Verb.
Cause (a person or animal) to go with one by holding them by the hand, a halter, a rope, etc. While moving forward.
Example: She emerged leading a bay horse.

Adverb.
In the same way; also.
Example: The dream of young people is to grow old, and it is likewise the dream of their parents to relive youth.

Messaging:
Noun.
The sending and processing of email and similar electronic communications.
Example: He's messaging with her girlfriend.

Peer:
Noun.
A person who belongs to the same age group or social group as someone else.
Example: In all cases one partner joined the peer group after the age of six.

Research:
Verb.
The systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.
Example: Recent advances on research and implementation of Biological Control Pest control.

Speed:
Noun.
How fast something moves.
Example: He was travelling at a speed of 90 mph.
es: Velocidad.
Task:
Noun.
A piece of work to be done or undertaken.
Example: I tell them what tools they can use to carry out the task and what the end product of their work should be.

Teacher:
Noun.
A person who teaches, especially in a school.
Example: The teacher is seen as a facilitator who promotes the learning, but does not direct it.
es: Maestro.
Technique:
Noun.
A way of carrying out a particular task, especially the execution or performance of an artistic work or a scientific procedure.
Example: It will outline how this technique can be used as an animal care and management tool for non-human primates.

Vocabulary:
Noun.
The body of words used in a particular language.
Example: The class will get a clear view on the vocabulary development procedure.
