25 diversity/ multicultural education terms
This glossary is my own definitions of the terms relating to diversity/ multicultural education.
- Activism
- Being passionate about righting wrongs to people and nature.

- Bias
- Unfair opinion in favor or against a person, place, or thing.

- Class
- Societal ranks based on an individuals economic status and social status.

- Colorblindness
- An individual that does not see the color ones skin, embracing everyone for who they are.

- Disability
- A physical or mental condition that force disadvantages in daily life.

- Diversity
- The inclusion of multiple backgrounds, cultures, race, sexes in one place like a workplace.

- Emigrant
- An individual that leaves one country for another.

- Ethnicity
- An individual that belongs to a specific social group based on having the same culture or cultural background.

- Faith
- Extreme confidence and trust in a person, place, or thing.

- Inclusion
- One individual being welcomed into a group of people.

- Indigenous
- People who are naturally born in a specific places.

- Language
- Communication through speech, writing, bodily expressions that can vary between countries.

- Minority
- A group of people, smaller in population, that is often discriminated against.

- Race
- Using physical attributes to box together groups of people.

- Racism
- Belief that differ peoples, based on skin color, are above or below that of another people.

- Religion
- An individual or group that believe in the same higher power based on socialization and culture.

- Sex
- Whether an individual is born with female or male reproductive organs.

- Sexual Orientation
- An individuals preference in whom they are attracted too.

- Social Justice
- Is the justice between social, economical, and the privileges in society.

- Socialization
- The societal and economic status an individual is born into that begins the process of behavior in society.

- Stereotypes
- An original assumption that became a societal mold for any individual that fills it.

- Tolerance
- The level to which an individual can handle a persons behavior or opinions.

- Values
- A collection of terms that help to dictate or guide an individuals choices or behavior.

- Viewpoint
- A way of looking at a situation and having perspective based on the individuals background.

- Violence
- Is a behavior of an individual with intentions to injure others.
