30 Multimedia in education and tafffic safety of children terms
The glossary contains words which are helpful in discussion about role of contemporary, multimedial methods in teaching children about how to stay safe in road traffic. All the definitions combine: dictionary explenations, and my own point of view about the meaning of a term. I tried to keep it simple and concise.
AN ACCIDENT
noun
An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.
Example: The problem of road safety began to be discussed from the moment when the first cars appeared on the streets and they became participants in road accidents, involving pedestrians, including children.

ANIMATION
noun
The technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of things, puppets or models to create an illusion of movement when the film is shown as a sequence.
Example: Computer animation may be what audiences see in theaters, but hand drawn animation hasn’t completely disappeared.

BEHAVIOR
noun
The way in which one acts or conducts oneself towards people or in particular situation.
Example: Roads should deliver appropriate information to drivers and thus induce safer driving behavior.

COMPETENCE
noun
It's proven ability to use knowledge, skills and personal, social and methodological abilities, in work, study or teaching situations.
Example: This implies the necessity of equipping teachers with appropriate competences, among which infotechnical and media competences play a key role.

DISREGARD
noun
The action or state of paying no attention to something, ignorance.
Example: This program emphasizes the need to introduce educational, repressive and preventive measures in order to eliminate the disregard for traffic regulations and increase the driving culture.

noun
A serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.
Example: Traffic congestion may impede the ability of emergency vehicles to reach the site of a traffic incident or other disaster in a fast and reliable manner.

basic physical systems, installations, facilities and any other resources (such as personnel, buildings, roads, or equipment) needed to reach people's objectives in their activities
Example: It became apparent then that road infrastructure and local attempts at traffic organization could not keep up with the increasing number of automobiles.

The ability to use your own judgment to make decisions without asking another person's advice or the power or opportunity to do something before others do.
Example: The company has the opportunity to seize the initiative by getting its new products to the market before its competitors.

Example: Mobile interaction is an aspect of human–computer interaction that emerged when computers became small enough to enable mobile usage.

Example: You must wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle.

It's willingness to do something and reason why people initiate, continue or terminate a certain behavior at a particular time.
Example: Using multimedia in education increases motivation to learn, which contributes to students’ pro-education attitudes.

Example: Parents oversee their children during their way to school, before they let them do it on their own.

PANIC
noun
Sudden, very strong and uncontrollable fear or anxiety, often causing wildly unthinking behavior.
Example: In a traffic situation a feeling of panic may occur - it can make you feel so frightened that you cannot think clearly.

A developed or acquired ability to do something well and efficiently.
Example: The author attaches great importance to road traffic safety education, which should focus both on deepening the knowledge and skills.

A mobile phone that performs many of the functions of a computer, typically having a touchscreen interface, internet access, and an operating system capable of running downloaded applications made for different purposes.
Example: Most of us now use a smartphone every day — whether we like it or not.

Example: Drivers are invited to keep distance, and to adjust the speed to road conditions.
