12 Personal finance terms

Personal finance is one of the most important ways to have a good life and well-being. My glossary explains some of the most important words in finance, especially personal finance. This glossary will help you to communicate with customers who speak only English with confidence. The glossary contains 12 terms related to the finance field. I read the Chapter 20'' Using technology to manage your money'' to find words for this glossary, and I used a dictionary to translate the words. Borrow
Verb
take and use (something that belongs to someone else) with the intention of returning it.
Example: This increased difficulty in borrowing is also mirrored in investment figures; firms are discouraged to Borrow at such high costs, thereby constraining investment and slowing down the accelerator process.

Budget
Noun
An estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time.
Example: I need to curtail my grocery budget because I spent far too much last month.

Commission
Noun
The fee that a financial-services company pays a financial adviser when the adviser sells a product to a client.
Example: She gets 10% commission on each sale.

Gross income
Noun
Gross income refers to the total income earned by an individual on a paycheck before taxes and other deductions. It comprises all incomes received by an individual from all sources – including wages, rental income, interest income, and dividends.
Example: What is her gross income before deductions?

Inflation
Noun
The percentage by which the cost of goods and services increases and the value of money decreases over time.
Example: Project has not taken into account the effects of Inflation and taxation

Liquidity
Noun
A term that describes how quickly and easily you can pull cash out of a particular asset.
Example: Talk to the corporate finance staff about the state of the company's liquidity.

Loan
Noun
a thing that is borrowed, especially a sum of money that is expected to be paid back with interest.
Example: Borrowers can take out a loan for $84,000.

The total income you end up with after all deductions.
Example: One of first things the mortgage lender will want to know is the cost of the building versus the net income potential.

Overdraft
Noun
A deficit that occurs when you withdraw an amount of money from an account that exceeds the account balance. Doing this often triggers a penalty from the financial institution.
Example: ''When I left Cambridge I had a $900 overdraft.''

A person who is allowed to represent someone else in legal or financial matters.
Example: She is acting as proxy for her husband.

Refinance
Verb
Finance (something) again, typically with a new loan at a lower rate of interest.
Example: Companies must refinance $20 billion of the warrants and bonds.

Yield
Noun
The earnings an investment returns to its owner, expressed as a percentage.
Example: 1. Our yields of wheat increased this year. 2. Yield can include interest and dividends.
