This glossary is for TIC with Mr Italo, used for new and interesting terms

Activity System: Noun; A system with a group of people who share a common objective within a specific context
Affinity Spaces: Noun; A space where groups of people come together to share interests
Apps: Noun; Application. A small program usually on a phone which installs a type of software
Assessment for Learning: Noun; An approach to teaching which relies on giving feedback to improve a student's performance
Audio-lingual: Noun; An approach to learning which drills speaking and listening in another language
Authoring software: Noun; Software which allows a user to create their own media content
Blog: Noun; A website used for uploading and sharing personal thoughts and ideas on different topics
CALL: Noun; Computer Assisted Language Learning, the process of using a computer or other computer like technologies in order to learn a language
Communicative Competence: Noun; Communication Competence refers to how well a communicator achieves their goals through interaction
Communicative Language Teaching: Noun; Also called "communicative approach" is an approach to teaching which focuses on communication and application
Communities of Practise: Noun; A group of people who come together to share a common goal and come together to resolve it
Connectivism: Noun; A framework used for understanding technology and communication in a digital age
Consoles: Noun; An electronic box used to play games and observe other medias
Cyberbole: Noun; Exaggerated claims about what technology will do in the future
Flaming: Verb; Harassing or disrupting other users online
Genre: Noun; A style of art, music or literature
Grammar-translation: Noun; An approach to learning which focuses on translating sentences, phrases and works into a target language
Hardware: Noun; Tools, machinery and real, durable equipment used in technologies
ICT: Noun; Information and Communication Technology. Technology related to information and communication
Input: Noun; What is taken in or understood by a system
Instant messaging: Noun; Messages that appear instantaneously to another's device
IT: Noun; Information Technology. All technolgies referring to processing information
Laptop: Noun; A smaller more portable computer
MALL: Noun; Mobile Assisted Language Learning. The use of mobile devices for learning languages
Mediational Tool: Noun; Signs and symbols that work as agents for culture
Multimedia: Noun; A form of communication which combines different communicative forms such as text, videos or photos
Phonology: Noun; The study of the relationships between speech sounds which constitute a language
Privacy Settings: Noun; Options which allow a user to customise what they see and don't see
Rhizomatic Knowledge: Noun; A philosophical concept used to describe systems with no clear beginning or end, such as the internet
Scaffolding: Noun; Demonstrating problem solving and explaining the steps along the way
Social Media: Noun; Websites and online spaces used for meeting others and socialising
Social Networking: Noun; Reaching out with websites to find people with common interests
Social-constructivism: Noun; A study of thought that human knowledge is created socially alongside human development
Socio-cultural theories: Noun; Theories which deal with society and culture
Socio-digital-competence: Noun; Being able to choose and use the appropriate tools and language in a given social context

Text message: Noun; A message sent over a digital device, such as a cellphone
