Activity System
Noun
A group of people who share a common object and motive over time, as well as the wide range of tools they use. together to act on that object and realize that motive.
Example: Community refers to the group of subjects that share the objectives of an activity system.
Affinity Spaces
Noun
An affinity space is a place or set of places where people affiliate with others based primarily on shared activities, interests, and goals, not shared race, class culture, ethnicity, or gender.
Example: Gee and Hayes (2010) characterized the kinds of social structures underlying interests in the game as affinity spaces.
AFL

Apps
Noun
An application, especially as downloaded by a user to a mobile device.

Audio-Lingual
Noun
An approach to learning which drills speaking and listening in another language.
Example: Our new teacher uses the Audio-lingual method in his classes.
Authoring Software
Noun
A web authoring package is specifically designed to allow you to create web pages and websites.
Example: Suggested tools include HyperStudio and PowerPoint, or any Web authoring software.
Blog
Noun
A website where an individual person, or people representing an organization, write regularly about recent events or topics that interest them, usually with photos and links to other websites that they find interesting

CALL

Example: They use CALL in the classrooms.
CLT
Noun
Communicative Language Teaching.
Example: Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is an approach that aims to achieve communicative rather than linguistic competence through learner interaction.
Communicative competence

Learner's ability to use language to communicate successfully.
Example: Proposing a relationship between theory of mind and communicative competence is consistent with existing theories related to language use.
Connectivism
Noun
The learning theory that suggests students should combine thoughts, theories, and general information in a useful manner.
Example: The school uses connectivism as its teaching method.

Communities of practice.
Example: KM strategies include such things as training sessions, communication technologies, process mapping, and communities of practice.
Cyberbole
Noun
Exaggerated claims about what the internet and information technology will accomplish.
Example: It is impossible to avoid the hype or cyberbole surrounding the Internet.

Full of anger
Example: They had a flaming arguement online.
Genre
Noun
A particular type or style of something that you can recognize because of its special features.
Example: His essay discusses theories of style and genre.
Grammar-translation
Noun
Method of teaching foreign languages derived from the classical method of teaching Greek and Latin.
Example: In grammar-translation classes, students learn grammatical rules and then apply those rules by translating sentences between the target language and the native language.

The machines and electronic parts in a computer or other electronic system
Example: We supply computer hardware to businesses.
ICT
Noun
The study of the use of computers, the internet, video, and other technology as a subject at school (the abbreviation for ‘information and communications technology’).
Example: His Government has poured billions of pounds into providing ICT equipment for schools.
Input
Noun
The act of putting information into a computer; the information that you put in.
Example: This program accepts input from most word processors.
Instant messaging

The act of sending an instant message.
Example: Instant messaging (IM) is becoming increasingly popular as a business communication tool, especially for more informal communication. Some examples of widely used IM services are Google Talk (commonly called Google Chat), Slack, Jabber, Spark, and many more.

Noun
The speech sounds of a particular language; the study of these sounds.
Example: The two-year-old stage in the acquisition of PHONOLOGY.
Privacy Settings
Noun
The part of a social networking website, internet browser, piece of software, etc. that allows you to control who sees information about you
Example: If this site doesn't provide privacy settings, don't use it.
Rhizomatic Knowledge
Noun
A philosophical concept used to describe systems with no clear beginning or end, such as the internet
Example: Deleuze/Guattari use the concept in order to imagine the production of ... law in the same way as Deleuze/Guattari have approached rhizomatic knowledge.
Scaffolding
Noun
Demonstrating problem solving and explaining the steps along the way.
Example: At one point they feared that it would need external scaffolding.
Social Constructivism
Noun
Theory in which the learning is constructed first through social interaction and then on the individual plane.
Example: to the best of my knowledge the term ' social constructivism ' appeared in mathematics education from two sources
Social Media
Noun
Websites and software programs used for social networking.
Example: Companies need to invest in social media to make it work for them.
