Hello, my name is Madnaley Clevéus, I am 19 years old, and I have been studying at Montmorency College for almost three years. I am studying in the Nursing Program. I create this glossary for people like me who who are actually studying or who want to study in the same program. I really hope this glossary will help you if you get a blank about the meaning of these 20 words related to the Nursing Program and the hospital world.

bandage
noun
A strip of material used to bind a wound or to protect an injured part of the body
Example: My brother has a bandage on his leg because he has a big injured on it

Bronchitis
noun
Is an inflammation of the mucous membranes of the bronchi
Example: Her baby is hospitalized because he has a bronchitis

Constipation
noun
a condition in which there is difficulty in emptying the bowels, usually associated with hardened feces
Example: He is constipated. It has been 3 days since he has his last bowel movement.

noun
Fever is a temporary increase in your body temperature, often due to an illness
Example: His temperature is over 38 degrees, he has a fever

Heart attack
noun
A sudden and sometimes fatal occurrence of coronary thrombosis, typically resulting in the death of a heart muscle
Example: Her mother died after having heart attack

An escape of blood from ruptured blood vessel, esp. when profuse.

Abnormally low blood pressure

Hypothermia
noun
The condition of having an abnormally low body temperature, typically one that is dangerously low.
Example: His body is cold, he is in hypothermia

Injection
noun
Insertion of liquid into the body with a syringe
Example: He received an injection of the Covid vaccine

Oxygen mask
noun
A device that provides a method to transfer breathing oxygen gas from a storage tank to the lungs. It may cover the nose and mouth or the entire face.
Example: The patient has difficulty to breath so he is using an oxygen mask

Physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury
Example: He had a lot of pain after his surgery

Tachycardia
noun
Refers to a heart rate that's faster than normal (more than 100 beats per minute)
Example: His heart is beating at 105 per minute. He has a tachycardia.

noun
A vessel that allows the transport of blood from the periphery to the heart.
Example: His blood flows through his veins.

Virus
noun
An infection agent that typically consists of nucleic acid molecule in a protein coat, is too small to be seen by light microscopy, and is able to multiply only within the living cells of a host
Example: The doctor said he has caught a virus.
