the red liquid that circulates in the arteries and veins of humans and other vertebrate animals, carrying oxygen to and carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body.
Example: Now, of course, nobody denies that certain processes (BLOOD flow, neural transmission etcetera) occur in the brain and that behaviour would be impossible without them.

any of the pieces of hard whitish tissue making up the skeleton in humans and other vertebrates.
Example: In addition, a series of indices have been developed for demonstrating breakage in the skull and mandible, recognizing several stages of breakage of the BONEs and loss of the teeth from the jaws.

a flexible tube inserted through a narrow opening into a body cavity, particularly the bladder, for removing fluid.
Example: This condition represents an acute medical emergency which may require urgent angioplasty, embolectomy (using a fogarty CATHETER) or open surgery, and as a result Mr is likely to be placed under a considerable amount of stress.

a medical condition in which the body temperature is higher than usual and the heart beats very fast
Example: It includes isolation from non-infected infants, humidified oxygen if O 2 saturations drop below 94%, paracetamol for FEVER, antibiotic cover if there is evidence of 2º bacterial infection, NG feeding and IV support if indicated.

a hollow muscular organ that pumps the blood through the circulatory system by rhythmic contraction and dilation. In vertebrates there may be up to four chambers (as in humans), with two atria and two ventricles.
Example: The second stage is referred to as the haemolymphatic stage, in which the parasites multiply in the individual's bloodstream and are then carried to the lymph nodes and other organs such as the spleen, liver, HEART and endocrine system.
