This glossary will help you understand all the terms used in the hospital and reassure you when you hear terms you do not know during a consultation with your doctor.
Auscultation

Action of listening to the noises that occur inside the body to make a diagnosis.

Dementia is a syndrome in which there is a deterioration in memory, reasoning, behavior and the ability to carry out daily activities.
Example: This lady suffers from rare dementia.

Identification (of a disease, of a condition) according to its symptoms.
Example: My patient was diagnosed with depression.

Exudate
It's a noun.
Body fluid oozing from an inflamed surface.
Example: The wound is red and inflamed with exudate

Facies
It's a noun.
Aspect of the human face (in medicine, anthropology, etc.).
Example: The child had a red facies after getting angry.

Glucose
It's a noun.
Glucose is a simple sugar (carbohydrate) stored in our body in the form of glycogen which can be mobilized at any time to meet the demand of the cell concerned.

Hematoma

Hematoma is an effusion of blood that occurs deeper under the skin.

Hormone

Substance secreted by an endocrine gland, released into the bloodstream and intended to act in a specific way on one or more target organs in order to modify their functioning.
