20 Job and Criminology Glossary terms

Hi, my name is Lory-Ann, and I have studied English since I'm in prekindergarten. I have been in the program of English enrich in high school, and I got a diploma for ELA (English, language, arts). Since I don't know what my future job will be, this glossary will be a list of words related to job and to criminology (it's part of my field of interest). I have chosen those words either for understanding or for spelling. This glossary helped me to understand how to pronounced, write, and use the following words.

Blackmail
noun
To blackmail someone is to demand money in return for not revealing a secret.
Example: This guy tried to blackmail my friend for 500 000$.

This picture shows money and an hacker. According to blackmail, it means money against information.
Bribery
noun
Bribery means to give or offer money to influence another person's decision.
Example: We tried everything to get it, even bribery! The answer is always negative.
en: Bribery : corruption
In this picture, we see two people that just concluded something, but under the table one person is giving money to the other, which means that the person's answer was probably influence by the money.
Delegation
noun
Delegation means to give work or responsibilities to a person that has a "lower" position (ex: a principal toward the teachers).
Example: The teachers received the delegation of the principal.

This picture shows that the boss needs to delegate the job, in fact everybody will have some responsibilities.
Embezzlement
noun
Embezzlement means to steal large amount of money that the person is responsible of (over a period of time).
Example: My friend told me that her ex was in jail for embezzlement.

This picture is really extra, but it shows us an employee that put money (probably not his) illegally in his jacket.
Encore career
noun
An encore careers, means to have another vocation or job during the same time as the main job, and it usually start in the latter half of someone's life.
Example: While my brother was working has a real estate agent, he had an encore career has a teacher.

This one is the perfect representation of the reasons the lead to an encore career.
Forgery
noun
Forgery means to illegally copying documents, money, etc. The goal is to cheat people.
Example: This rich man was found guilty of forgery.

This picture shows a simple exemple of what forgery can be. It start with a copy of a signature on an important document or anything else.
Hijacking
noun
Hijacking means an act of unlawfully seizing, it can be : aircraft, a vehicle or a ship.
Example: Two of her friends and her were found in a hijacking last year.

This one represent what a hijacking looks like in an airplane.
Hooliganism
noun
Hooliganism means violent behaviour by young troublemakers, usually in a gang.
Example: When I was in high school, there was a gang of boys that was doing a lot of hooliganism.

This picture represents a gang of teenagers, doing some hooliganism.
Income
noun
Income means to receive money on a regular basis, it's a synonym of salary.
Example: Has a student, I have a good income for my situation.

This picture shows a person that received his/her income (wage, salary).
Internship
noun
Internship means the position of a trainee who works somewhere.
Example: Last week, I was on an internship at my job.

In this one, we have the representation of what internship include.
Libel
noun
To libel means to publish false statements that will damage somebody's reputation.
Example: He was accuse of libel.

This picture represents a women who's crying, probably because someone spread false informations about her on order to destroy her reputation.
Manslaughter
noun
Manslaughter means the crime of killing someone without wanting to murder him/her.
Example: The final decision was clear. She will be accused of manslaughter.

Those pictures represent a casual fight between two guys, unfortunately the guy on the right fell and died. The guy in white didn't want to kill him. This is what we call manslaughter.
Perjury
noun
Perjury means to tell false affirmations to a court.
Example: During his trial, this guy accused two of the witnesses of committing perjury.

This picture is the perfect representation of perjury
Perk
abbreviation
The abbreviation of perquisite, which means something additional to regular salary (not a promotion).
Example: The wage is not great, but the perks help us to be motivated.

This picture shows the perks/benefit that some jobs can brings.
Prospects
noun
Prospect means, to have an opportunity for success, a promotion, etc.
Example: The prospect of a promotion made me working harder.

This picture represents that hard work leads to opportunity.
Recuit
noun
To recruit means to employ.
Example: Yesterday, the boss recruit two new employees.

It's a picture of what recruitment include.
Trespassing
verb
The act of trespassing means to enter the owner's property without permission.
Example: I saw some footprints in the snow leading to my house, someone must be trespassing on my land.

Here, we see someone who's trespassing this fence, there's a sign with an inscription that says: private property.
Union
noun
Union means an association where people take action to make changes.
Example: All the teachers had a meeting on Wednesday at lunch, I think that it's a union meeting.

Here, the picture shows that if everybody gets together things can change.
Voyeurism
noun
Voyeurism means the practiced of gaining sexual pleasure by looking at others when they are naked or the enjoyment from seeing the pain or distress of others.
Example: In this episode, the guy is practicing voyeurism.

The picture is a good exemple of voyeurism. (I chose this one because the others were not appropriate in a school context)
Workforce
noun
Workforce means the people engaged for work in a particular place.
Example: Since the pandemic, all the industries need workforce.

This picture shows that if we don't have enough workforce, the industries can't work.
