This glossary will help people getting familiar with the typical things a teacher uses in his job. Some things or actions may be hard to understand, so that's why this glossary can help all of these future teachers.
Action plan
noun
Specific proposal developed by a learner, teacher or institution to address problems or difficulties or meet a desired goal.
Example: The new student needs an action plan to set his goals.

Brainstorming
noun
Typically used in writing, but is any activity where individuals general ideas related to a topic or task; done in either groups or individually with no restriction on quality of ideas. Once ideas are generation, they are they evaluated and a decision about which to pursue is made.
Example: The 3 students made a brainstorming before doing their homework.

Challenging
adjective
A teacher who likes to test one’s ability and stimulate one’s mind.
Example: The exam was so challenging that only 2 out of 20 test takers passed on the first try

Class exercises
noun
Learning exercises or problems students complete during regular classroom or laboratory sessions under the supervision of an instructor.
Example: The teacher gave some class exercises today.

Competencies
noun
An individual's abilities as they relate to knowledge, understanding, and skills; see also minimal competence.
Example: This activity is part of a three-year curriculum reorganization for the department, focusing on assessment of core competencies and skills.

Creative
adjective
A teacher who has a big imagination and new and original ideas.
Example: Particularly, there were events that gave students an opportunity to give vent to their creative instincts.

Dissertation
noun
Extensive essay generally required at the completion of a doctoral program.
Example: I am writing about how World War Two affected the lives of women in Britain for my university dissertation.

Distance education
noun
Any format of education provided to students who do not need to be physically present at an institution; previously materials were sent to students but now materials are provided via computer conferencing, video, Internet, and other electronic means.
Example: The acceptance of distance education has occurred somewhat grudgingly by traditional colleges and universities.

Evaluation
noun
Process of assessing work completed by an individual, group, or institution with the aim of determining whether the individual, group, or institution has meet predetermined standards.
Example: During his end of the year evaluation, the student tried to keep calm and do his best on his exam.

Flowcharts
noun
Schematic graphical representation of a sequence of operations, often used to illustrate a particular process.
Example: The software allows students to write and execute programs using flowcharts.

Group work
noun
Learning activities requiring several students to work together.
Example: Success was due in large part to good teamwork.

Guidelines
noun
Statements specifying recommended procedures for completing a specific task
Example: As the guidelines have recently changed we need to make sure that our operation matches up to what is expected.

A teacher who is always ready to give help to those in need, supportive.
Example: The study guide was incredibly helpful.

Icon

Small pictures on computer screens that typically will access a program or function when activated by clicking with a mouse
Example: A program is composed by dragging the icons onto a storyboard from the palettes.

one who is intelligent, perceptive, with a great deal of insight and understanding.
Example: Probably the world's most knowledgeable man on mind.

Mentoring
noun
Activity of advising and guiding a person through some task.
Example: A mentoring process can facilitate graduates' induction into the profession as they assume school counseling positions.

adjective
A teacher who is very hopeful for the future, positive.
Example: I'm very optimistic about our chances of success

A teacher who has a strong belief or feeling toward a particular topic.
Example: If you are passionate about something, pursue it.

Professional
adjective
A confident, skillful, adept person who is accomplished in their line of work.
Example: He was a trained professional who saw to the health and welfare of the crew and acted as the medical expert on board.

Supportive
adjective
A person who provides help in the way of encouragement and emotional care.
Example: My family, especially, is very supportive and has kept my feet on the ground.
