Branding

When talking about branding design, it typically refers to key brand elements such as the logo, color scheme, typography, and other design components that makes a brand stand out from competitors, and recognizable to consumers.

CMYK
CMYK is the colour mode which should be used when designing for print. The four colours the name stands for, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (Black), are the four colours most widely used in printing.

Design

Organization or structure of formal elements in a work of art, a visual composition.
Example: The design of this new t-shirt looks weird.

Digital

Digital is the use of digital technology. Digital relates to communication through intangible media, digital technologies, different networks.

Font
noun
Assortment or set of type or characters that changes the shape of the letters and give an artistic aspect to a word. (Not to confuse with typography.)
Example: The font used on hockey jersey changes for each team.

Golden Ratio
noun
The golden ratio is a mathematical ratio found in nature that heavily influenced design. Using the golden ratio in art and design help to create a well-balanced work that feels effortlessly natural.

Gradient
noun
A gradient is when one color gradually transitions into another color. It can include any two colors or can include more than two.

Graphics
noun
Relating to visual art, especially involving drawing, engraving, or lettering. The products of the graphic arts, especially commercial design or illustration

Logo
noun
A symbol or other design adopted by an organization to identify its brand on products like uniform, vehicles, clothes, etc.
Example: The Audi's logo is made of 4 circles.

Mock-up
noun
A mock-up is a realistic, normally 3D representation of a design, used to demonstrate how a design will look in the real world.

pixels
noun
A pixel is one of the small dots or squares that make up an image on a computer screen. It is the composition of a raster image. It is lower quality than vectors but it can give more the appearence of a picture.

RGB
RGB, for Red Green Blue, is the colour mode which should be used when designing for digital applications, not printing.

Typography
noun
The design, or selection, of letter forms to be organized into words and sentences, to give an artistic style, for exemple on a concert poster.

vectors
noun
In graphics, vectors are used to design something that need to be clear and manipulable. It is a computer graphic image that is defined in terms of points which are connected by lines and curves. It can be zoomed without loosing visual quality.
Example: This shape is made of vectors. We can see it because there is no imperfections in the lines.

Visual
noun
A visual is an image or a photography of something that is used to show the final result of a product and what it will look like when completed.
Example: The customers want a to see a visual before confirm the order.
