Glossary
Aircraft
Noun
An airplane, helicopter, or other machine capable of flight.
Example: An Aviatik was the first aircraft to land in Mallorca.
en: Aeronave
Analog signal
Noun
Is any continuous signal for which the time-varying feature of the signal is a representation of some other time-varying quantity.
Example: An analog signal uses some property of the medium to convey the signal's information.
en: Señal analoga
Capacitor
Noun
A device used to store an electric charge, consisting of one or more pairs of conductors separated by an insulator.
Example: A capacitor consists of two conductors separated by a non-conductive region.
en: Condensador
Continuous signal
Noun
Is a varying quantity (a signal) whose domain, which is often time, is a continuum.
Example: A continuous signal, such as voice, has a continuous range of amplitudes, and therefore its samples have a continuous amplitude range.
en: Señal continua
Digital signal.
Noun
Is a continuous-time physical signal, alternating between a discrete number of waveforms, representing a bitstream.
Example: Digital signals having more than two states are occasionally used.
en: Señal digital.
Discrete signal
Noun
A discrete signal or discrete-time signal is a time series consisting of a sequence of quantities.
Example: A discrete signal is represented as a sequence of numbers.
en: Señal discreta
Framework
Noun
An essential supporting structure of a building, vehicle, or object
Example: A framework is a real or conceptual structure intended to serve as a support or guide for the building of something that expands the structure into something useful.
en: Estructura
Landing
Adjective
An instance of coming or bringing something to land, either from the air or from water.
Example: Tuvimos que hacer un aterrizaje de emergencia debido a la tormenta.
en: Aterrizaje.
Pressure
Noun
Continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it.
Example: Because pressure is commonly measured by its ability to displace a column of liquid in a manometer.
en: Presión
Quantization
Noun
Is the process of constraining an input from a continuous or otherwise large set of values (such as the real numbers) to a discrete set (such as the integers).
Example: Quantization is the inevitable result of representing a value as a number with a fixed number of decimal places.
en: Cuantización
Sampling
Noun
Is the reduction of a continuous-time signal to a discrete-time signal.
Example: Sampling analog signals makes them discrete in time.
en: Muestreo
Signal
Noun
An electrical impulse or radio wave transmitted or received.
Example: A signal may be considered as an interruption in a field of constant energy transfer.
en: Señal
Systems
Noun
A set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.
Example: It may seem disorganized, but there is some system involved.
en: Sistemas
Unit step function
Noun
Is a step function, named after Oliver Heaviside (1850–1925), the value of which is zero for negative arguments and one for positive arguments.
Example: The unit step function was originally developed in operational calculus for the solution of differential equations.
en: Función de paso unitario
Vessel
Noun
A ship or large boat.
Example: This vessel has not come to be praised or worshiped.
