active listening: Verb; attentively trying to understand what someone says rather than passively hearing the words; Example: Active listening can be difficult because it requires staying focused on what the speaker is saying; en: Lắng nghe tích cực
aim: noun; the purpose of a shared outcome; Example: my aim fro this year is to graduate; en: mục tiêu
analysis: noun; breaking sown a global topic into issues and exploring causes and consequences of these issues; Example: i agree with his analysis; en: phân tích
argument: noun; consists of a claim , the reasons for that claim and evidence to support the claim; Example: the argument was about sharing the remote; en: tranh luận
bias: noun; a judgment based on a personal point of view, which may be unfair or could favor or be prejudiced against a certain side; Example: my bias for this trio is her; en: thiên kiến
cause: verb; the reasons why an event or situation happens; Example: the cause for this leaking is because of the crack; en: nguyên nhân
cite: verb; to refer to a text, book or author as evidence to help support an argument; Example: When the politician accepts his party's presidential nomination, he will more than likely cite a former president in his speech.; en: trích dẫn
claim: verb; a statement or an assertion that something is true; Example: i claim myself as the winner of this challenge; en: yêu cầu
closed question: adjective; a question that often has yes or no or specific answer, often prompted by “what” questions; Example: i asked my friend a closed question; en: câu hỏi đóng
collaboration: noun; working together with others; Example: collaboration is important for this project; en: hợp tác
communication: noun; a way to transfer information from one place to another, usually by speaking and writing; Example: our communication has helped the group a lot; en: liên lạc
compromise: verb; to reach common agreement; Example: me and my sister compromised to eat the pizza together; en: sự thoả hiệp
conclusion: noun; sms up points made in a text; Example: there were thank notes in the conclusion; en: phần kết luận
consequence: noun; the result or effect of something that has happened; Example: there will be consequences if you do it
double bar graph: noun; a bar graph that compares two sets of data; Example: we will need a double bar graph
evaluation: noun; identifying strengths and limitations/weakness; Example: we will need an evaluation
evidence: noun; anything than can support or back up a claim; Example: i have evidence of what you said
fact: noun; something than can be proven to be true; Example: this is a fact about a cup
fake news: noun; false info deliberately created to trick people into believing it is true; Example: i gave you fake news
feedback: noun; giving info to someone about something; Example: the feedback was useful
global perspective: noun; thinking about a situation or issue as it relates to the whole world; Example: global perspective is important
issue: noun; an important topic/sub-topic or problem for debate or discussion; Example: i have an issue
limitation: noun; usually something that’s lacking or not done well; Example: there is a limitation
local perspective: noun; thinking about a situation or issue as it relates to a specific region or locality; Example: local perspective is important
national perspective: noun; thinking about of s situation or issue as it relates to a specific country; Example: national perspective is needed to be discuss
non-verbal: noun; feedback that is nit spoken, including nodding, leaning forward and making eye contact; Example: she was being a non-verbal colleague
one-sided argument: noun; an argument that does not present all the evidence; Example: that is a one-sided argument
open-ended question: noun; a question requiring a longer answer than a yes/no, often prompted by ’why’ or ‘how’; Example: that was open ended question
outcome: noun; a product to achieve a specific aim; Example: the outcome was very useful
paragraph: noun; usually presents a claim, reasoning and evidence; Example: you need to write paragraphs
personal perspective: noun; what an individual thinks about a topic/issue/as a result of research of research findings; Example: i hav a personal perspective
personal strength: noun; something an individual is good at; Example: singing is her personal strength
perspective: noun; a certain world view or way of looking at something; Example: they have their perspective and we have ours
prediction: noun; a statement about what might happen in the future; Example: my prediction is tomorrow’s morning will rain
primary research: noun; the method for collecting data that has not been collected before and is collected directly from individuals, groups of people or research observations; Example: this is called a primary research
questionnaire: noun; a way of gaining different opinions/viewpoints to help develop a perspective, usually a local perspective about an issue, often referred to as a primary source of information as responses are given directly to the person who wrote the questionnaire; Example: there were many different answers to this questionnaire
reasoning: noun; justification for something, often introduced by ’because…’; Example: the reasoning is non sense
reference: noun; details of a source of information, including the author, title, publication date, any website address and date the website was accessed; Example: it is similar to the reference
reference list: noun; a list of all the source of information researched and used in written work; Example: a reference list is needed for this project
reflection: noun; to think hard about something; Example: the reflection was really good
reflective learning: noun; to think hard about what you are learning; Example: you need to have reflective learning skills
reliable source of information: noun; a source that can be trusted to be true; Example: this is a reliable source of information
research: noun; a way of collecting information; Example: a research question is important
search engine: noun; a program on computer that searched for and identifies suitable information; Example: a search engine is needed
secondary research: noun; the method of collecting data from existing/published sources of information; Example: this is a secondary research
shared outcome: noun; something produced as a team; Example: that was a shared outcome
source: noun; a place from which information can be obtained to inform a person about something; Example: i got this information from a source
stakeholder: noun; someone with a vested interested in a topic/issue; Example: he is a stakeholder in this team
teamwork: noun; working with a group of people towards a shard outcome; Example: teamwork was a struggle in my group
text structure: noun; how the text is organized so that the reader can follow it; Example: the text structure was so bad in this book
topic- specific words: noun; words that are related to a main idea/topic; Example: this sentence have topic-specific words
transition words: noun; words that help to link ideas together; Example: you need transition words in this paragraph
unreliable source: noun; a source that cannot be trusted to be true; Example: this look like an unreliable source
verbal feedback: noun; spoken feedback, including affirmations like ‘i see’, ‘i know’, ‘sure’, and ‘i understand’
