- active listening

- attentively trying to understand what someone says rather that passively hearing the word
- Example: Coaching is really active listening.

- a question requiring a longer answer than yes/no; often prompted by 'why' or 'how'
- Example: These are the best questions to ask if you have no specific question in mind, but still feel the need to have a reading. Some examples of open-ended questions are: "What should I know right now?" or, "What's something important that I'm over looking?"
