Heat Transfer
Heat Transfer
7 terms
The science of thermodynamics deals with the
amount of heat transfer as a system undergoes a process from
one equilibrium state to another, whereas the science of heat
transfer deals with the rate of heat transfer, which is the main
quantity of interest in the design and evaluation of heat transfer
equipment.
- Conduction
- Conduction is the process by which heat or electricity passes through or along something.
- Example: Temperature becomes uniform by heat conduction until finally a permanent state is reached.
- en: Conducción

- Convection
- Convection is the process by which heat travels through air, water, and other gases and liquids.
- Example: clouds which lift warm, moist air by convection high into the atmosphere.
- en: Conexión

- Energy
- Energy is the ability and strength to do active physical things and the feeling that you are full of physical power and life.
- Example: We try to boost our energy by eating.
- en: Energía

- Energy balance
- An energy balance is a consideration of the energy input, output, and consumption or generation in a process or stage.
- Example: n establishing an energy balance, all sources of thermal energy are put on the input side, and all items of heat utilization on the output side.
- en: Balance Térmico

- Radiation
- Radiation consists of very small particles of a radioactive substance. Large amounts of radiation can cause illness and death.
- Example: They fear the long term effects of radiation.
- en: Radiación

- Thermal
- Thermal means relating to or caused by heat or by changes in temperature.
- Example: My feet were like blocks of ice despite the thermal socks.
- en: Térmico

- Thermodynamics
- The form thermodynamic is used as a modifier.
- Example: Thermodynamics is the branch of physics that is concerned with the relationship between heat and other forms of energy.
- en: Termodinámica
