25 Glossary of Terminology terms

25 Terms that I believe are important to define

Activism
noun
To bring change to an issue through campaigning.
Bias
noun
Usually an unfair treatment of others based off of their liking towards a person, thing, or group.
Bigotry
noun
An unreasonable attachment to a belief towards another particular group, creating a prejudice opinion.
Class
verb
The economic status that people are divided into.
Colorblindness
noun
When color is not seen and does not affect a persons social opportunities.
Culture
noun
The social norms and behaviors found in a certain groups beliefs, arts, laws, customs, and habits.
Culture
noun
The characteristics of a specific group in which the customs, arts, and social institutions are corporated.
Disability
noun
When a persons activities, senses, or movements are limited due to a physical or mental condition.
Diversity
noun
The inclusion of all races, genders, social class, sexual orientation, and different backgrounds
Ethnicity
noun
Belonging to a group that has the same culture.
Gender Expression
noun
A way a person can express themselves, usually in appearance.
Gender Identity
noun
Having a particular identity, this can be the same type of identity at birth or differ from it.
Genderqueer
adjective
A person who does not identify them as the conventional gender distinctions, they identify themselves as none of them or possibly both.
LGBTQ
adjective
A term to define a persons sexual orientation, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning.
Microaggressions
noun
Super offensive insults based off of discrimination.
People of Color
noun
A person who is not white.
Privilege
noun
An advantage a person gets.
Race
noun
A categorization of certain groups based off of their physical and social qualities.
Racism
noun
Discrimination, antagonism, or being prejudice towards a member or members of a particular group based off of their race or ethnic group.
Religion
noun
The practice of worshiping a God or Gods from the belief of worship.
Sex
noun
Physical characteristics that pertain to femininity and masculinity.
Sexual Orientation
noun
A preference in which a gender is sexually attracted to.
Social Justice
noun
The relationship between society and individuals comparing their wealth differences and fair opportunities amongst one another.
Socioeconomic Status
noun
Social class based off of the work, social position, or family's economic of a person.
Transgender
adjective
When a person identity does not corresponding with their birth sex.
