Nowadays, within a hundred year, there is more trash being thrown into the ocean as well as on land than people expected from hundreds of years ago. The environment system is being destroyed because of all of those harmful things that exist in trash when it decomposes. This planet is not going to be alive anymore if this situation continues for several decades. The climate changes on earth is now out of control and most of the ecological system in the ocean is not doing well. People need to take action before it is too late.
In the timeline, there are many species of animals disappeared either because of natural disease, disaster, or human hunting activity. Now it has become more dangerous because the environment they live in has become deadly not even for them but for humans too. According to science research, there are more than 267 species including 86% of marine turtles and other marine mammals affected by the plastic pollution. Hundreds of rare animals die every day from ingesting plastic of all sizes and that makes the “extinction crisis” become higher every year. If this continues for a few decades, I believe the question “ What will happen to the planet if animals continue to go extinct?” will have an answer.
With all of the chemicals in factories that have not been through a process of waste treatment and oil spills in recent years in the ocean, soon enough will become a big problem. When water gets polluted, it adversely affects all lifeforms that directly or indirectly depend on the situation. Chemical poison causes cancer in humans, and some skin diseases that can’t be cured because of the toxic axis , bacteria that thrive in the right environment. People have lost their lives because of all the chemicals, and still they just continue to throw or release harmful substances into the environment.
Hunting is the instinct of animals, unlike humans, they can’t distinguish between what is safe and unsafe to eat. Plastic contains toxic chemicals. When the atmosphere becomes hot it will release those harmful substances and kill almost all of the animals that are the main sources of others. Moreover, plastic is eaten by the turtle because it looks like a jellyfish, which causes the turtle to injure their organs and die . With 8 million metric tons of trash being dumped into the oceans by humans each year, I believe that within 20 years, all of the marine animals will go extinct.
Plastic killed birds, mammals, and turtles in many ways that humans can’t expect. Plastic and other types of trash usually lay around the seashore near the living environment of birds, it is not strange when a bird gets stuck into net and other man-made equipment , those things will injure them when they try to free themselves, and it will lead to the death of those poor animals.
Additionally, other animals mistake those waste for a viable food source causing blockage in their digestive system. All of that waste slowly destroys the habitat system in nature without any prevention from humans.
According to research, there are now 5.25 trillion marco and micro pieces of plastic in the ocean. When the ocean becomes warmer due to the atmosphere, plastic becomes a toxic chemical that can impact on human health directly like lead or mercury poisoning. Moreover, those types of chemicals reduce the transparency of the atmosphere, increase the humidity, and pollute the water and soil. Why don't people take action to save nature sooner since scientists already warned people about climate change all the way back to the 70s? Are people too indifferent to the environment?
There is some documentation about a type of small parasite that can control the behavior as well as the action of other species. Surprisingly this type of parasite can develop pretty well in a harmful area where plastic and other types of chemicals are present. It flows in the ocean to find an object to live in and if there is any unlucky fish eating them, they will use a special substance released from their body to control basically the entire brain of that fish. The trash environment is a “paradise” for those types of weird animals to grow, so people should clean up the trash before all of the fish in the sea turn into “zombies”.
Pollution is a top priority that people should take care of right now. There are almost 6 trillions of trash being dumped every year, not including some of other things like oil spills. Pollution harms animals, humans, destroys nature and kills this planet slowly in and outside. This situation should be ended within a few decades since it already has a sign of corruption. It Has been less than 100 years since the Industrial Revolution started and all of those toxic things that we release into the environment are enough to kill all humans.
Pollution in all types are caused by humans, and it is human responsibility to recover it. The nature provided people all over the world the necessary that they need to develop since the last Ice Age and now it is time for the human to return what they have been borrow from the nature. The small actions like planting a tree or recycling trash contribute to a bigger action like rescue animals also helps the earth become a better place. Whether people care about nature or not depends on their thought and the consequences of it is the result of that action.
