The price of attending college has risen dramatically over the past decades, so much so that it is affecting young adults' decisions on attending. Nobody talks about the expense of college, the thousands of dollars of loans that were borrowed, the stress that was built during college. My logic is you're expected to go to high school at that time you are left in the dust to go to college, when many jobs require a college degree and in order to take those steps into becoming successful to where you can get a good job, you have to pay a large amount of money. As students, we should be given the same opportunity in college as we did in high school.
My first year of college there were 300 students in my English class, after the second term there were only 80 students. All those students that dropped out realized that they can't afford to come back every year and pay thousands of dollars. We see this happening in our everyday lives. Getting rid of tuition would be the reason for not graduating. This would also improve college graduation rate, because of financial reasons fewer students would feel the need to drop out or take a break from their education. Students wouldn’t have to worry about how much they owe the school, instead focusing on passing for a better future.
At my college university the graduate rate of 2021 was 97% after the second semester it dropped down to 50%. This was because of the number of students who failed to pay for tuition at the end of the year. Not only does this affect the students' lives, but it makes the school bad. This shows that the school is not providing enough resources for their students to become successful. The more successful the school is at helping students become successful the better the school will look, not only that but more importantly people can donate to schools who they see are rising.
Free education provides the best opportunities to reduce crime, and it’s cost to society. It helps students gain knowledge, skill and even character.I had a friend in college who was very smart, he wanted to go to college and become an engineer. He decided he couldn’t do that for four years. It would’ve been stressful and very expensive for him. He decided to start work at McDonald's, that was his way of helping his family, because he couldn’t get a good paying job without his college degree. Many students are affected by this. If we give students the resources to become successful, the best way to shape our society.
We see how many students struggle every single day to try to help their families and juggle school. I work 12-hour shifts every day, not only to help my immigrant parents, but to also pay back the school, so I’m not buried in debt. Offering Free College tuition would benefit society, the more people will qualify and be able to work which means more applicants in the workforce and creation of more jobs. If we give them the skills they need for the real world, then the population will be more equipped to cope with economic changes.
We live in a world where the rich always win because of their wealth. If we were given the same opportunity for a free education, there wouldn’t be any more competition in the educational system. Many low income students don’t get this chance like the rich people, because of money. There’s many intelligent students out there that can be changing the world, making the changes that need to be made. They can’t afford it, they looked down upon, they don’t have an equal chance. Free tuition would give students from low income families the same opportunities as students from wealthy families.
More students in classrooms, If College tuition were free, where everyone can attend. The more money students will make in the future which is good for the economy. America is known for its ‘American Dream’ but students can’t live that dream if it’s they can't afford to attend and make that dream true. Imagine how proud America would be if they knew each student has the same opportunity to be successful. If students were given this opportunity to try different majors and explore and find their passion right inside the classroom, the more successful they would become. One can find interest in many subjects, when given the opportunity to explore and understand but what interests them the most is what is important. Many students don’t have this opportunity because they know the cons to changing majors. The fear that they have knowing that exploring a different major will cost a lot of money and having to borrow more money is even more stressful.
In conclusion, college tuition should be free of charge, due to the financial pressure that is pushed upon students. Many college students are low income students where in order for them to be successful they must take out thousands of dollars in loans, with all that stress, and they still have to focus on their studies. Having freed College tuition affects the number of students who is a dropout, improves completion rates, decreases the number of crimes in teens, expands our workforce, gives everyone an equal opportunity to succeed, creates positive change in our society.
