7 Reasons Why Exercising is Important

If you are having trouble improving your everyday life, look no further. One great way to make life more meaningful is to exercise because it comes with various benefits that improve your mental and physical health. Of course, it is easier said than done, but as someone who has been exercising for a while now, I can assure you that it is one of the best life decisions you can make. Mental and physical health is essential to our lives, and through exercising I was shown what I am worth, and what I am capable of doing with my life.

1. A Real Confidence Booster

Everyone deals with a lack of confidence in their life once in a while, but exercise can help boost your mood and help you feel assured with yourself. When you first start to work out you won’t see much of a change, but as you continue with your workouts, you will begin to see progress. This sense of progression will show you that you are improving; therefore, you will feel more confident about yourself, and this new-found confidence will also leak into your lifestyle outside of exercising. I found myself struggling the first weeks, but as I persevered, my confidence for myself increased.

2. Take a Chill Pill

Times like these have been challenging especially with the pandemic, so finding an outlet to release your stress is critical. Thankfully, exercising is a beneficial way to lower stress levels and bring peace to mind. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I go out to the gym to refocus, and it helps by calming me down and giving me a new sense of scenery. When you’re exercising at the gym or just going out for a jog, all your attention is towards the workout, which clears your mind of any worries or stress you might have in your life.

3. Happy Ever After

In addition, exercise can help improve your mood by releasing serotonin, a hormone that modulates mood, into the brain which makes you feel happy. When I start to see change in my body from exercising, I begin to feel better about myself overall. This helps me build a healthy relationship with my physical and mental health, because if I do well, then in return I will feel good. Also, exercising gives me a sense of accomplishment and productivity because I feel that I am using my time efficiently which leads to a fulfilling lifestyle.

4. Get Out and Be Social

Exercise not only helps you feel better about yourself, but it also helps you feel better about other people, which gets you connected socially. Since you know how strenuous exercising can be, you are able to relate with others on their journey in their workouts. Potentially, you can encounter people that need help to start out or others can reach out to help you. These situations have led me to developing friendships among others at the gym where I met up, worked out, and encouraged others. Exercising has also introduced me to a new world on social media where I can communicate my progress online.

5. Keeps You Fit

Just how exercise can help you mentally, it can also help you physically. Working out burns calories and help maintain a desirable weight. With this in mind, exercising can encourage you to have a healthier and sustainable diet, so you can control your intake of food. I made a planner and recorded what I eat on a daily basis to help myself understand what my body needs, and this has made my body feel healthier. Additionally, exercise can also help with strengthening your relationship with your body, allowing you to be content with what you have accomplished.

6. Strong Muscles and Bones

As you continue to exercise, you will see changes in your body like larger muscles and an increase in bone strength. I started off small with light weights and gradually advanced to heavier weights which made my muscles grow a little bigger. Ever feel that soreness after a workout? Well, that’s because your muscles are stretching and contracting which make them larger and stronger. Also, the physical demand needed to lift weights helps structure bones. It’s known as progressive overload, where you gradually increase the amount of weights or sets of your workouts.

7. Lowers the Risk of Certain Diseases

Exercise also plays a huge role in reducing your risk of contracting certain chronic diseases. Since you are making your body healthier, it is normal to assume that your healthy body will have a better chance of fighting off these diseases. One of these life-threatening illnesses is prediabetes. I witnessed one of my relatives experience this benefit since they were able to reverse the effects of prediabetes through exercise and hard work. I was worried about them, and seeing them work out to combat the illness inspired me to work out as well, so I could prevent any infection or sickness.

Conclusion

To conclude, exercise is an important aspect of life that can greatly improve your well-being. Take it from me, I exercise plenty throughout the week, and I can confidently say that it has changed my life for the better. Everyone should be aware of how important exercising can be if you just give it a chance. The motivation may not always be there, but it is important that your discipline is because that is what’s going to get you through the difficult times. Exercising is a way to escape from the outside world and the problems that come with it, so why not go out and get a workout in?
