7 Reasons Why you Should Take the COVID Vaccine

NEWS HEADLINES: Attention, all American citizens. The COVID vaccine is made available to everybody in the country. You can find the vaccine at your local drugstore. Free of charge and stay healthy! The Covid pandemic has created social, economic, and political problems worldwide. There has been an increase of COVID cases and deaths from 2020-2021. State orders were given to the public to wear masks and maintain social distance to deescalate the virus. Since the vaccine was introduced, many people were willing to take the vaccine. However, not as many people took the vaccine as states hoped that they would. This created a conflict between the state government and the public. The state government is pushing unvaccinated people to take the vaccine. They will resort to methods like establishing rules for unvaccinated people. This alternative method may be harsh, but necessary to persuade people. In order to sway people’s minds, they should be notified of the benefits of why they should take the vaccine.

1. It helps make your immune system grow stronger.

Everyone knows that your immune system has antibodies to combat outside foreign invaders like bacteria, virus, and toxins. I have learned about the immune system since I was in high school. Your whole body is like a war zone. However, without the vaccine, your immune system wouldn’t be able to fight off the new virus. It would be like losing the battle. The number of deaths related to COVID cases are exceedingly high because the immune system doesn’t have the specific antibodies to tackle the virus. By taking the vaccine you have a low chance of getting the virus. Not to mention, by taking the vaccine you will have an extra helping hand to serve you in the virus war.

2. Prevents you from contracting the virus.

The virus is proven to be transmissible from person-to-person. You can’t see the virus, however the symptoms are visible if you contact someone with the virus. Since the pandemic started, there wasn't a concise idea of how the virus functioned. That is until many scientists began to research the symptoms. It was concluded that Covid is treated like the flu only, the major difference is that it takes longer for the person to experience symptoms after they are infected. Contracting the COVID virus takes a long time to get the symptoms. It varies for some individuals. I’ve seen in the news that there have been reports made 1 or 3 days later after contracting the virus. For myself, my mom urged me to take the vaccine so that when I go to college, I wouldn’t be able to contract the disease from anybody.

3. Safe for you and your family to take the vaccine.

Even though social distancing has majorly impacted our family from socializing with each other, the vaccine helps you reconnect long distance relationships. Since everybody in my family took the vaccine, we are able to have family gatherings on special occasions. It was a hard time because I was worried that I couldn’t see the faces of my relatives ever again. Also, I was terrified of my family and relatives’ well-being because ,in truth, some were highly vulnerable to the virus. My grandpa was vulnerable because he’s 90 years old. Although the virus brought vulnerability, it created a lot of stress for my mom. She had anxiety attacks that put stress on her job as a cafeteria lady at Franklin East Elementary. Despite that, we were still taking care of each other and tried to maintain social distance.

4. Scientifically tested and approved by the CDC.

The CDC had worked tirelessly to identify the virus’s effect on the body. If you look on their websites, there is so much information regarding to COVID. There are causes of the virus, recommendations on how to stay safe, regulations on what to do if you have the virus, how many COVID cases there are worldwide, and finally, information about the vaccine. If you’re unsure or want to know more about the vaccine, you can go to their website. This would be a wise decision if you are planning to take the COVID shot. They will continue updating information as soon as possible.

5. Lets you resume your daily routine physically.

When the pandemic hit in the United States, state and federal officials announced stay-at-home orders, especially during school hours. This impacted education as schools were forced to use online learning to teach children while at home. The learning environment became so distracting that kids weren’t able to focus on their school work. However, with the vaccine, people can go to school physically and focus completely on their studies. Since I received the vaccine, I can go to my class that is adequate to my learning environment compared to last year. In my first semester, I went to ASU physically in class. However, I was disappointed because there were a limited number of students going to college. By that number alone, I assumed many students were taking online classes for personal and safety reasons. In this year of college, there are currently large numbers of college students participating in physical learning in classes.

6. You can go without wearing a mask.

People who have taken the vaccine are shown to resume their lives without the need of a mask. In the news, public schools and universities decided to abolish rules and allow people only to those who are vaccinated. On the other hand, if people decided not to take the vaccine, then they would have to wear masks and maintain social distance. It would make sense if they want to protect themselves because they haven’t developed any antibodies that could counteract the virus. I’ve seen people without masks having the assumption that they took the vaccine. They would resume their daily routine without having complaints about having to wear a mask. I know from experience that wearing a mask is very discomforting. Wearing a mask makes it difficult to read people. You can’t tell if they’re happy or sad by looking at their expressions.

7. Taking responsibility in taking care of yourself and those around you.

Everyone is held accountable for their well-being. Generally, it’s important to take into consideration others so you won’t let them get sick. Wash your hands after you touch something and cover your mouth in your elbow when you cough or sneeze. I know from experiences that some people just do not care about other people's well being. I remember reading the news on the internet that there were teenagers who were purposely coughing on fresh vegetables in a market. They were promptly taken into custody after the police arrested them. Make sure you follow all CDC guidelines. If you do follow the rules, you will be showing respect and protecting others from the virus.

Conclusion

The positive note of taking the vaccine brings good and beneficial well-being to an individual. As the COVID cases begin to increase as a country, many state and federal officials are cracking down hard on unvaccinated individuals. Unfortunately, many individuals choose to ignore or refuse to take the vaccine because they have the right to do so. Another reason for not taking the vaccine is believing it’s not necessary. Not only that, but people don’t really trust the government. They believe that the government isn’t being honest about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine. Keep in mind that the benefits of taking the vaccine can help you sustain a healthy lifestyle. My research question is how can we convince unvaccinated people to take the COVID-vaccine?
