How do you define the job?

Also known as a Sales Representative, a Salesperson works in retail stores to assist customers with their purchases. Or sells directly to proffessional buyers.


How many years of experience have you had in sales?

I have about 2 years of experience in sales throughout my education and programs outside of school. For example, I sold tea and coffee at our school for a project management class, I have been president of a "Junior Achievements" business in which we had to sell a product that we made ourselves. And also, as a side hustle I've also been reselling products I buy at auctions.


Describe your prior experience as salesperson?

I have sold tea and coffee for a project management class, I have been reselling products online for a while and I also sold chocolate.


What was your earliest work experience?

I have been working every summer since I was 15 to make money, and I work hard at school to receive good grades. At 15 I was working as a clerk for a grocery store, I had to lift heavy crates of food, and deal with angry customers, and that, from 6 PM to 11 PM.


How did you motivate an underperforming team to achieve its goals?

I always do my best to motivate my teams to do the work we need to do by showing them what's in it for them.


In what ways have you exceeded expectations in the past?

Last year, we had an interview where our team had to present a project to a potential client. Needless to say, the presentation was great, but we had to put in that little thing that would make us different than the others teams, so we brought a very symbolic gift, which led us to gain the contract.


What makes you different from other candidates?

I have leardership skills, professionnalism, knowledge general culture and plain logic that would probably shock you.


What does being salesperson mean to you?

Being able to sell a refrigerator to a man on a stranded island, rather than a boat.


When have you worked in a team before?

I usually have to work in teams, whether it is at school or working at my job, I usually take the lead when nobody else does.


What kind of people do you not work well with?

People who are lazy. I hate giving out tasks, receiving the approbation of the whole team, and then, realize at the deadline of this project that the whole team did not do their part. I know sometimes have trouble at home or elswhere that makes them unable to finish a task, but please, don't penalise your team for it, tell them you won't be able to do the work.


How do you react to criticism?

I always try my best to turn a negative argument into a positive benefit for the interlocutor.

At home


Tell me about how you plan your daily activities?

I have an agenda I write what I have to do during the week.


How would you approach a task you have never done before?

I would think logicaly on what I should do, and if it doesn't solve it, I would search on google.


What did you do to learn the ropes at a previous job?

Tell me about a time when you were able to convince someone.

Last year, we sold tea, coffee and mugs to teachers at our college. One time, after I did my speech, the man told me that he didn't drink coffee, or tea. But after a bit more talking and telling him that christmas was near, he finaly accepted because of the pros I weighed against his cons. So I sold coffee, tea, and mugs, to someone who didn't even drink tea or coffee.


How do you convince someone to change their mind?
