Right after I obtained my diploma from Collège Ahuntsic in 2021, I started working as a Community Manager for a French clothing brand named Jennyfer. I worked for a total of 11 months there, and I recently started looking for a new job in order to expand my horizons and have a new experience in marketing.

Describe your prior experience as marketing communications manager?

As said before, I never worked a Marketing Communications Manager but only worked as a Community Manager for the French clothing brand Jennyfer. I mainly participated in developing the brand's notoriety by posting on their social media, creating content, and interacting with the community.

What was your earliest work experience?

My first job was working as a facilitator. I worked with children and had to manage groups of children, create activities for them, and ensure their security. It was back in 2020, after the quarantine and when children needed stimulation.

How did you motivate an underperforming team to achieve its goals?

When working in teams during my studies two years ago, the teacher put us in groups, so we couldn't choose our partners. I had to work with people I didn't know, and I also didn't know their work habits. They weren't very enthusiastic about the work the teacher gave us, but I tried to motivate them, and I had to assign tasks because they didn't know where to start. I managed to motivate them, and we had a good grade.

In what ways have you exceeded expectations in the past?

Back when I was a Community Manager, I had to create a post for a new collection. I was just expected to make a normal print, but I made a very creative print and my boss was very pleased.

What makes you different from other candidates?

I know there are other candidates who could fill this position, but my passion for digital marketing, communication, creating contents and sharing moments with a community sets me apart. Also, the skills that I have developed throughout the years, that I have explained more on my resume, could be very beneficial. Many of my surroundings complimented me on my creativity and skills when creating content on social media. More than a job, I see this as an opportunity to do what I love and put my skills to good use and for a good cause.

What does being marketing communications manager mean to you?

For me, being a Marketing Communications Manager means connecting people who are seeking to improve their lifestyle, to your company. It also means being in constant contact with people and help build a community that has the same interests, and developing relationships with them. All of this results in growing a community that is close to your company.

During my job as a facilitator, I worked in a team with other facilitators. We wanted the children to have a good time, and we worked hard together when building activities for them and agreeing on how to function.

I assume that I do not work well with people that try to control everything and doesn't listen to what the other team member's have to say.

How do you react to criticism?

When someone criticizes me or my work, I first try to understand where it comes from. Whether it's a constructive criticism, or, if it's a criticism based on nothing and that doesn't come from a good intention. If it's constructive criticism, I appreciate it because it allows me to get a different perspective, and even get better at what I'm doing. If it's not, I try to not give it attention.

Before starting, I make some research on the topic and if I'm really not sure on how to approach the task, I ask other people that could be familiar with it.

What did you do to learn the ropes at a previous job?

When I worked as a facilitator, I had to organize a big game for the first time for a big group of children. Before, my boss explained me all the tasks I had to do before conducting the game. He was there to support me in the organization of the game, and I could ask him questions on how to conduct the game, what resources to use, etc.

Tell me about a time when you were able to convince someone.

Back in high school, when I was in Philosophy class, we had to participate in debates. Before that, we had to, as a team, think of arguments that we could say to the opposite team. So, during the debate, I brought one of my team's arguments and the other team didn't know how to respond.

I listen to their point of view before trying to convince them, and then I think of arguments that particularly answers to their point of view.
