Being an account assistant is to provide administrative support to accountants. For example, I have worked in this domain as an account assistant, and I was making phone calls and all the tasks relative to administration.
I started working as an account assistant when I was 17 years old. I studied 3 years in accounting and management at Cégep de Thetford. Now I have 3 years of experience and a diploma in this domain.
I started doing some tasks relative to administration when I was 17 years old. While I was learning other things at Cégep, my supervisor was giving me more tasks. Now, I am the only one in the business who does the accounts.
My first job was teaching to skate to young people. I was helping them to develop their competencies and accompany them during their evolution. I was making their lesson plan, and I was making sure that they were following it.
When I was teaching skating, I had to encourage my students to achieve their goals. When they were doing great, I was always telling them to motivate them. It's very important, because I was the only one who was able to motivate them.
I had a handicapped skating student. At first, she has a lot of difficulties to staying up. I had to adapt everything for her and after one year, she was able to do spins and jumps. I wasn't expecting her to develop so fast.
My experience in accounting is very large if I compare myself to others of my age. At work, I was doing every task relative to accounting because I was the only one (small business). This means I did a lot of different things and that makes me different from others.
It means to provide assistance to accountants. You need to be rigorous and efficient. Finally, you do part or all the accounting cycle.
At my last job, I was working closely with the owner of the company.
I don't work well with people who are not autonomous.
I react well because I'm able to take them. I always want to do best, so when it's constructive, I like to hear them and improve myself.
When there is a good ambiance like everybody is having fun when it's time and when everybody is in harmony.
I always have an agenda and a book to plan my things. In my agenda, I have the big events of thing like that, but in my book, I write the tasks I have to do in the day.
I will take my time do start it and do it. If I need help, I will make sure there's someone who can help me and who is available.
I was asking to have access to the documents or things that I will probably need. Also, I was asking who I can refer myself when I need help.
When I was doing a work at school, I had to convince someone that she could choose another print worker than the one she wanted. I told her all my good arguments and the facts, so that she could understand and go at another print worker.
I ask the person why is their mind better. After challenging them, I tell them all my good arguments and the facts. After this, I let time to the person to change her mind.
I would bring structure, rigor and someone who has a relevant experience in accounting.
I see myself working closely with everybody. I would be someone who communicates a lot to have a good harmony in the team.
