I am not a civil engineer, but according to my knowledge; it seems great. Civil engineers build a lot of different infrastructures. To my knowledge, being a civil engineer seem very adventurous, far from boring, and quite exciting. In the past, civil engineers in Egypt built pyramids; civil engineers in Greece and Rome built temples, aqueducts, and great public buildings; civil engineers in China built the Forbidden City. Every major infrastructure system in the United States were designed by civil engineers. Cities could not have been built without civil engineers. Infrastructures that are necessary to modern cities (I.g. water treatment, hazardous waste processing ...) are built by today's civil engineers. Over the next decade, civil engineering will have to renovate the present infrastructure of building new ones.
It depends on the project. Sometimes, civil engineers work on roads, sometimes on bridges, sometimes on public building. Civil engineer's job depend also on the phase of the project. Projects have three phases: preconstruction planning, implementation, and infrastructure maintenance. So, our jobs can be very different depending on the project and the phase of the project. Our job can also depend on our experience. A recruit will not have the same responsibility as someone has been working for ten years. There're different terms depending on your experience; junior (recruit), assistant, grade one (five years), supervisor or management role (ten years).
Civil engineers work at highways, bridges, railroads, airports, and mass transit systems. Sometimes we even work from home or in an office
