This chatbot is a way to learn more about the Paramedic profession if you want be one or just know a little bit more about the profession.
I would like to tell you that, but I'm not a Paramedic at the moment. In my opinion, it looks very exciting and challenging. It's, again in my opinion, more fun than be siting at a computer all day long crunching some number.
Paramedics drive an ambulance to go save people. They have to provide treatment to patient, so they can get to the hospital alive. Sometimes, you can save a life, sometime there is nothing you can do. Paramedics have an obligation of means, not the obligation of result.
They are waiting for the central to give them an assignment. After that, it could be anything, trauma, AVC, breathing problem, etc. In an urban area the kind of call can varied a lot. In the countryside, it is about the same thing, but it is more ambulance driving because there is a large area to cover.
In an ambulance, in the home of people and at the emergency of a hospital. More or less everywhere is your working place.
In Quebec to be a paramedic you have to do a college degree of 3 years. You can also do a BAC at the university to be an advance care paramedic.
In Quebec a paramedic can make between $24 to $35.84 an hour. After, that there are a lot of variables. They are premium if they do night shift or weekend shift or if they do advance care, that is a BAC diploma.
The additional training is generally provided by the employer if need. Sometime, paramedics need an update on there knowledge. If they want, they can also get a university degree.
Sometimes, they get call on an accident on a highway it can be dangerous. Sometimes a patient can be very aggressive, or you can be exposed to dangerous virus like hepatitis, AIDS or something more dangerous. But that part of being a paramedic, if there is not risk there is no fun.
It can happen if the robots are able to make judgment call on a life and dead situation. But that is not going to happen soon.
It depends on the person. It is more a question dose the paramedic is still able to continue doing is work effectively.
In conclusion, the work of a paramedic is an exiting job, if you like action and not working between four walls, help people and save live. You want more information on the subject make some research on the internet or watch some TV show like "Situation D'urgence" on CanalD or "Urgences" on TOU.TV.
