Nursing is a beautiful job you give some help to people, it's a real pillar in a society and if you ever think to be a Nurse, this article is for you. I will present you the role of a Nurse, the typical day, where they can work, where you can apply to have the formation and much more information that is very useful if you ever want to be a Nurse.
A Nurse is like being a care taker, it's a very difficult job because you always need to be mentally prepared, you have a lot of weight on your shoulder because you have the life of your patient in your hands but in the same time it's beautiful because have a proximity with your patients, and you have the feeling of helping those that are in need of help.
A Nurse does so many things. She or He evaluates patients, gives the medication, take vital signs, helps to prevent disease, provides health care services to patients, communicates with the doctor, does physical exams, speaks with the family, gives advice and knowledge. They communicate with other health care providers and specialists like physicists, occupational therapist, etc. To provide a smooth transition for the patient.
On a typical day a nurse will come in and get a report from their colleague about all the information they need to know for all of the patients they will have during the day. After checking up on all the patients by taking vital signs, physical exams, asks questions on how they're feeling and noting for the doctor, they then proceed to the administration of the medication. What a Nurse does really depends on the patients and their needs, no days are the same.
Nurses work in hospitals, but more specifically they are, most of the time, in rooms with the patients. There are so many departments in a hospital that a nurse can work, there's a place for everybody.
Becoming a Nurse is only possible if you go to school and study Nursing and when you are finished, you need to pass the nurses order exam to be considered a nurse.
The annual salary of a nurse is relatively high, in Quebec it depends on your field of department. There are a lot of fields but the one's making the most money I would say are the Neonatal nurses with salaries that can go up to $93,444 per year
The kind of additional training that a nurse needs depends on your department. For example, you would need a certain additional training to go in the operating rooms and same thing for a lot of different fields of nursing.
I would say the primary danger is your personal mental health because you work a lot of hours, and you deal with all sorts of patients, you don't get a lot of breaks, you run everywhere and your drained physically, all that while trying to keep a smile. Also, when you're not there mentally it can cause you to make errors on patient which sadly can sometimes be deadly.
It may be probable but in the far far future
Nurses usually retire around 60 years of age.
To finish off I'd say that I aspire to help those in need and make people happy. I choose to be a Nurse as a career because I believe that help people is a vocation. I hope this article gives you more information on this job and feel inspired to go work as a Nurse.
