When they arrive, they prepare their work plan with all the patients they will have. On this sheet, they will write down all the specific elements for that patient. At the beginning of the shift, the nurses from the previous shift give a report that explains what they did during their shift and if anything special happened. Then the patients are prepared and given their medications. Some patients need to have their dressings changed. We talk, laugh and care for patients all day. When you finish, you give the report to the next nurses.

People who want to become nurses can choose among four educational programs. The two-year program takes place in a junior or community college combined with some hospital training. The diploma program, run entirely by a hospital or school and based solely on nursing, takes three years to complete. The longest is the BSN program, which awards candidates a bachelor’s degree of science after four or five years of study at a college or university. To practice, every nurse must pass a national licensing exam. After completing any of these programs and passing the exam, the nurse becomes an RN, or registered nurse.
Nurses can make up to $70,000 a year, so $30/hr. There are specialties that can go up to $100000, so about $50/hr.
Every year, there is some training that nurses must complete or watch to stay current. Some of these training is paid.
The main danger would be a burnout. In some departments, nurses are forced to stay on for an extra shift because of lack of staff. Sometimes, a nurse can have too many patients in her care. Being in bad conditions, it affects the health of the nurses.
The robot could replace the technical abilities of a nurse, but not the moral principles. The robot will not have consciousness, and therefore not enough empathy to provide good care.
Nurses must complete 35 years of service to retire. After 35 years, the nurse has a lot of baggage that stays with them forever.
Currently, I am finishing my 3 years in nursing. I would like to specialize in working with mothers in the delivery room. Nursing is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, but filled with love and support!
