If you ever thought or ever wondered what it's like to be an entrepreneur, then this article is for you. It will help you understand what the job is mostly about, make you learn about a typical day for an entrepreneur and maybe make you want to become one. In my case, I am motivated to write about this career because it's a job that I am really tempted to do in the future. The fact that not everyone can actually do this type of job intrigues me and makes me want to dig more on the subject.
Being a successful entrepreneur depends on the opportunities you decide to take or not. If you know enough on the expertise you chose to have a business on, you also know that nothing is too big or too small, you are the future of your own company. Also, you have to know about management strategies, how to manage a team and money. Often, an entrepreneur is someone who is not scared of taking risks, because sometimes, it is the only way to achieve in this type of career.
In general, contractors, are their own boss, they create their own company with their own capital. They usually start by some research in the field of the company they want to create, and then, they go for it. The first year of a new company are not so successful, it takes time. An entrepreneur has to meet people, invest money, find new strategies, and update their project to beat the competition.
A typical day for an entrepreneur is actually never the same. If we imagine an entrepreneur who owns a financial firm, on a typical Tuesday morning, he will start his day by a meeting with his employees to talk about the ongoing projects with their clients. After this, he would have calls and meetings with clients to talk about new turnovers or to talk about new projects. A good entrepreneur knows how to keep a good relation with his clients. After lunch, which could have been with clients or colleagues, an entrepreneur would look or think for new marketing strategies by investing on advertisements or maybe by discussing a collaboration with other firms. A typical could end at 5 p.m. like it could end at 9 p.m., it depends on the work that has to be done on the really instant moment.
It depends on what the entrepreneur owns. If it's a local coffee shop, he would probably work at his office there or even at home if he is able to communicate enough. Although if he owns a financial firm, it requires a lot of employees which means a lot of space. In that case, he would probably work at this office in a tour in the downtown of the city.
To become an entrepreneur, you should make sure that you cover all the basics of the field which are the finances, economics, Business and Management class, mathematics, and even the English class that can be really necessary to look professional all along. With all this knowledge, you can become a confident and organized entrepreneur.
Normally, the first two years are not a success, it can actually be a failure even if an entrepreneur puts all the effort he can. Usually, it is because the contractors spend a lot of money to start their company and to invest in it, so it takes a lot of time to make a considerable profit. Successful companies took a long time to arrive where they are today, like Google or Coca-Cola. To keep promoting your work is the key.
Through the years, an entrepreneur becomes established and gains expertise which makes him a real businessman. Although it is important to stay updated to the life changes so some contractors can decide to invest in the social media industry or to assist as some conferences on climate changes or any new information that can help the growth of their company. There is no limit.
As an entrepreneur, there are many important errors that you can do that are actually crucial to your success. For example, you have to make sure that you have a full team that completes itself, a finances team, a marketing team, an investors team, etc... If the team doesn't match, the success will take time to arrive. Also, it is important to calculate every decision. Before any invest project or big step for the company, the contractors have to make sure that this is the right thing to do and to prepare a budget for any financial step. Managing a company's money takes a lot of time and people.
In fact, contractors are, in a way, already robots. If you count the fact that there's a lot of accounting software (accounting is a big part of a company) that already exists, you can consider that some parts of the entrepreneur's job is helped by the technology. Although you can't replace human ideas and management by some robots. So, the chances that contractors will be replaces by robots soon are considerably low, in that case.
As mentioned earlier, with time, contractors gain expertise and become real businessmen and even CEOS of big firms all over the world. In this case, it is difficult to determinate an age that contractors retire at. It actually really depends on the capacities that the entrepreneur has, if he still has a lot of convictions and ideas at the age of 80, he can still run his business. Usually, when the CEOS retire, they just sell their company for a lot of money.
Even though I'm still at College, I really do believe that I have the determination and the perseverance that it requires to become a good entrepreneur. I am organized and motivated to grow something that is mine (company). Also, I am not scared to be around people and meeting clients because of my social skills. I really think that this is for me.
